SOB body flex

Long story short:
All flights out of the 3 airports I use were cancelled due to weather (Specifically sustained 30-50 mph winds) so I rented a car for the 7.5 hr drive to my client. Drive was north on I-81 from VA to NY.
Along the way, I passed a SOB 5'er. The winds were directly out of the west, therefore exerting the maximum pressure against the windward side of the SOB. The chassis appeared to be flat and level but the flex of the upper portion of the trailer put the top a foot or more out of kilter.
I doubt that we'd have that problem with the aerodynamics of the AS.
It was just such a shock to see this one so far out of whack from air pressure.
Anyone else ever see anything like this?

A lot of the cheaper SOBs are constructed with nothing more than 2 X 2 wood frames with a laminated skin over it, so this body distortion is no surprise!! Our construction (monocoque) uses the frame, aluminum ribs and aluminum skin as one complete weight bearing unit......MUCH STRONGER!!!!!!

I wonder if it retuns to square when the wind lets up? Or do you need to put ropes on it and stake it down like a tent every night?

You could put some hula skirting around the roof and watch it dance in the wind.

Some Other Brand

It would be interesting to know what brand this was!

If you don't want to mentioned the brand name on the forum and know what brand it was, I would appreciate it if you could send me a PM with that information.

Thanks!

SOB Slide Hammer

In a SOB we previously owned, the count was 3 warrenty radios and counting! The edge of the slideout was lined up with the speaker selection switch on the radio with too little clearance. Going down the road, there was enough flex to beat the switch into submission and have another trip to the dealer for a replacement. Installed a real radio in a different location to solve the problem. Made a really nice trade-in for an Airstream!

I was too busy trying to keep my rental Shevrolay Impala on the road to notice the maker of the SOB. sorry.

On a side note, I was on I-81 immediately prior to the following:

Scared the "you know what" out of me when I read the article on Yahoo News this morning.
