Things change rapidly in every direction. You will best call ahead to reserve sites at campgrounds up the road. Some are closed, some are only open to one night patrons, some are open with limited spaces, and on and on.

I believe it would be near impossible for anyone here to put together and keep updated this kind of comprehensive information from around the country.

The AllStays app, my personal favorite, will show you campgrounds, welcome centers, etc., along your planned route.

Call ahead, if what you want isn’t open ask if they know of anything nearby that is.

When I headed home in mid March, when this was all just really taking off, I left with a full tank of water and stayed in WalMart parking lots my first two nights, so that I could be completely self sufficient and have contact with others only when needing to stop for fuel.

I stayed in a campground my last night so that I could get a good shower and dump my tanks.

Safe travels,

Maggie

We went from north FL to Detroit MI. Zero issues on the road but ended up just using Cracker Barrel for overnights because camp grounds are hit or miss on if they let transients in. It’s a lot of work to make the calls and find the place to plug in for a night or two. If you don’t mind dry camping overnight and getting on the road the next day, you have a ton of options as mostly everything is closed.

Best of luck. Looks like things may be reopening in the next couple of weeks as well so you may be in luck if you wait a week to start looking as well.
