Sitting here

Well I am sitting at the computer looking out the window. The sun is shining, temp is in the fifties and it is mid February. Based on the above my mind just told be to dewinterize and go camping next week. So to Assateque I go.

Just bored and to much cabin fever.

Also have Airstream ants in my pants! Sunny here, temp. is above 50F. If I knew this was going to be the "non-winter," I would have not winterized - just kept the furnace on when the temp. did drop the occasional night.

Your part of the world reminds me of the wonderful Margureite Henry books I read as a kid. Misty of Chincoteague etc.

Have fun on your first outing of 2013.

As a kid and then with our kids, we spent some time there. I am curious what damage was sustained from Hurricane Sandy. All the outer banks were great visiting spots, along with the wild ponies. I wish we were going with ya...have fun.

Assateaque did sustain some sever damage from Sandy. The walk in camp site area is still closed. The pedestrian/bike bridge just reopened. It had a major washout on one end of the bridge but it is good to go now. A number of the boardwaks were damaged but are slowly being repaired.
