Shoe Storage

We are at a KOA in the Hudson River Valley. It was raining off and on when we arrived yesterday, which makes for dirty shoes. My DW was complaining (and rightly so) about tracking dirt inside. She said, "There should be a place to store shoes so you can take them off when entering. Why don't you ask the forum members if they have any ideas?"

We have a 25FB Int. and the curb side seat has been removed (otherwise the drawer under the seat could be used maybe) to add a recliner. I can't think of a place to store the shoes but there are a lot of creative people on this forum.

I said I would ask. So thus the question.

My 2006 safari 23 has a shoe cuddy to the left of the door just as you enter under the sink area. I have seen several other models with shoe cuddies to the right of door. I also use a plastic container as extra shoe storage and general catch all.

I keep a rubber mat right inside the front door for shoes.

Allows them to dry, mat can then be rinsed off when dirty.

i've got a 25 i put a mat at the door and then i put some rubber runner behind the curb seat and there's a perfect spot to stash boots back there. but i guess you removed it! also a dish tray from smart and final works good for boots. or the tray they put in that little cubby under the bed.

Every time this topic arises, I have to chuckle because, of the 121 Airstream-related blog posts I've written to date, the most popular by hit count was this one about shoe storage. Of all topics!! I would not have guessed that in advance.

For dirty shoes, this is our solution - a tray custom cut to take advantage of the available slot on top of our black water tank. More details and more storage ideas in that blog post.

Typically in rainy, muddy weather we store shoes under the trailer. We carry two inexpensive doormats. One stays inside the door, and a slightly larger one goes outside at the base of the steps, except at those few campgrounds that prohibit them.

Absent rain, or when there isn't any wind so we can leave the awning out, we just leave shoes on the outside mat.
