Security deposit at RV Park?

Any parks charging security deposits? Have seen some hotels starting this trend.

Not to that extent, have seen security charges occasionally, but for very nominal charges.

There must have been an incident(s), to have prompted that, tho may also be a way of weeding out lower income campers.

Maggie

On edit: original post referred to a campground requiring a $300 security deposit, to be refunded upon inspection of site for damage.

Why this information was removed and the post more generalized is a bit confusing, but my response is to the original post.

Well…. Considering I think a KOA is often overpriced and I’d drive on to find another spot elsewhere, having a security deposit would be another good way to have me mosey on, I suppose….

I haven't seen it yet but I doubt it's unheard of and will probably increase because most people can't be trusted with nice things. Look at all the selfish people carving names in national parks, putting locks everywhere and throwing the key away, taking selfies with the wildlife, etc...

Some of the things I've seen such as people just dumping their tanks on the ground or trashing a picnic table to use as firewood would be punished by a deposit but most of us that adhere to the rules would be unaffected.

I could see it as a good thing for seasonal sites. Some put down carpets and other stuff and then just leave them.
