RV Park Full

I been RVing for many years never made reservations except over major holidays. This year due to many articles on how many RV’s have been sold, started to just call a few RV parks in the west to see if they had room for us. So far about 75 - 80% said no room during July August.
Question for all. Are you having the same answers? No room available!

Yes it is a big problem for popular destinations.

Yup. You have to book at the opening of the reservation window these days to get spots on popular weekends. That’s now becoming the norm for just plain old summer weekends.

6 months out is pretty common. Up to 12 months no doubt for popular national parks on busy weekends.

Football weekends in or near any college town come September can be really difficult as well.

When we camped years ago in our SOB, I could get call the week of and get into just about any State Park in the Southeast for a weekend trip. Since we got our Airstream last November, I have not been able to get into any State Park in Ga , except one time and I think that was just luck. There was a cancellation and there was only one site left. We have been having to find off the beaten path small private RV parks just to be able to go somewhere. I’m glad to see folks going camping but I’m hoping this will ease up soon.

As more and more folks get vaccinated, and the weather improves, this camping season could be a real challenge IMO.

We started reserving in early December and found the choices limited...

In CA, I have to log in to the State Park reservation site 6 mos. ahead of time, right at 0800 hrs. to get a spot at one of the beach parks (I live in the central valley and try to escape the heat at least once a month in the summer).

AND if you have a bad Internet connection, you will get beat for a reservation by someone else (happened to me last week)...At the private campgrounds, most have been at capacity for the summer in places like Morro Bay or Pismo, and those that have space have raised their rates considerably...
