Overnight in Kingman and go to Oatman without the trailer. Then continue on and circle back to Kingman on the highway. You will enjoy it a lot more. I saw some white knuckle motorhome drivers coming from Oatman to Kingman.

WOW,, thanks for all the reply's. Seems like there is a lot of interest in the area.
We will be pulling a 30 ft classic with a 2003 ford f-250 superduty 7.3L diesel with some mods and such
We for sure wanted to do the Sligman to Kingman section and when i was looking at google maps happen to see Rt 66 going through kingman and then heading south through Oatman and hooking back to I-40 at the cali line.
It looked like a fun off the main hi-way trip to see the roads motorist of old used to take when heading west from points in the Mid west, maybe going to cali to make a name for themselves in fame and fortune as it were..
Charles; I appreciate your offer and if we were doing this in the near future might give that a try but we are some 3 yrs at least before heading out and not sure when we would be going through that area for sure but THANKS for the offer.

Wait....you're not heading out for another 3 YEARS OR MORE?
Kingman could be ocean front property by then!

Well now that's what I call advance planning
This gives you plenty of time to get books and videos of the mother road and get totally excited about the trip
Check out Route 66 the ultimate DVD collection by Michal Wallis www.vcient.com
and Route 66 Return to the Road with Martin Milner DVD www.66films.com
Also Route 66 An Mercian Odyssey DVD www.66films.com
We will be returning to Route 66 this year starting in Barstow headed to Santa Fe for another fun filled trip that will include a train ride to the Grand Canyon from Williams,AZ .
A side trip down to Sadona . Then back on 66 to Flagstaff , Winslow , the Painted Desert , Gallup, NM , Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
So you can say we'll get our kicks on Route 66.

Agreed. Please NEVER do this route towing a travel trailer. You could kill a motorcyclist because the switchbacks are simply not wide enough. Period. And I don't wanna be the motorcyclist you kill, as I ride that stretch quite often.

Yeah i hear you on that...
While most of the route looks fine the section from outside kingman to oatman looks to be a somewhat narrow, twisty, hilly, non trailer (anything longer than a 17ft er) section..
I reminds me of Tail of the Dragon on the NC, Tenn line. 11 miles and 318 twisty turns.
NC had blocked entrance of large truck from their side for a couple years and tenn recently did the same thing but every so often a tractor trailer will try to make it down creating a problem for bikers.
Yes we are planning a long wayis in the future but I like knowing where the cool place to start looking at and how to get to them.. I know thing will change between now and then and i may not make that trip but at least it can be on the list of to do things, which i am sure will be LONG..
thanks again to all..
