Rocky Mountain National Park
We're going to be heading up there in a week or so, looking for a RV park outside the national park but fairly close, looking for something with full hookups, preferaly pull-thrus and nice,,, any ideas?

If I were looking for a commercial campground I would probably select Elk Meadow RV Ranch. While we have not camped there, we have had several friends that recommend it. Compared to the other campgrounds they offer more "elbow room".

We will be at Spruce Lake 9/17 & 18 then to Paradise RV for two nights. Both have full hookups. The latter is a bit small but right on the Big Thompson. Have a great trip!

Elk Meadow is a big RV park just outside the entrance to the park off Elkhorn Road in Estes Park. It does have space and full hookups and there are hundreds of camp spaces there. The big plus is that it is so close to the park entrance.
Enjoy your visit - the elk should be in rut and bugling while you are there which is always very neat to see. Also the fall colors are starting to come out now.

Spruce Lake RV, already mentioned here, is almost as close to the Park entrance as any other, and has the added convenience of being a very short walk from a larger grocery store, liquor store, and mimi-golf for the kids. Another RV park is right next door, Manor RV Park and Motel. It's pretty nice too. Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Park is located on Hwy. 66, right where that road forks off of the Hwy. 36 entrance to the Park, not off Elkhorn Ave. which is the main street in downtown Estes Park.
It is a fantastic time of year to be there- you'll enjoy it. I lived there for 34 years, so feel free to P.M. me if you need more local info. -tim

On the west side of the park in Grand Lake, there are two commercial campgrounds, Elk Creek and Winding River. Both have scenic and dispersed sites. Winding River has more pull throughs. There are also two upgraded (electric service) forest service campgrounds down U.S. 34 on Shadow Mountain Lake and on Lake Granby.

Any recommendations for a campground near RMNP. We don't need anything but electricity and water, dumping would be a plus, although wireless phone service is a must. No kids (at this point), so no need for kids stuff; looking to mix a little business with pleasure. Looking at May timeframe.

Elk Meadow or Spruce Lake.
Although it is dry camping we love Moraine Park in RMNP. So beautiful, and who needs AC?

We love dry camping so Moraine sounds great - but in this case we'll need more facilities. Maybe we can work that in as well. Appreciate the suggestions!

We stayed at the Sweetwater CG. It's a NF site on the lake. It was very busy Friday with all the weekenders coming in ( they take reservations) but we found a site with no hookups. They do have some electric / water sites if you can find one available and they do have a nice clean dump station. But no fresh water to top off the tank unless your site has water. Nice place
