Roadside Assistance

Who is good to have for roadside assistance? I had Good Sam Roadside Asst for a while when I had my MH's and then used Winnebago's. I never had to use them so I don't know how they are. Does Airstream have their own? Who would everyone suggest?? I'm assuming I'll need it right?

I have Good Sam's road side and have used it they were great. It sure beats changing a tire on side of the road...SAM

I've never used a service for changing a flat. However, when my truck broke down in Ganado, AZ, on a Sunday morning, Good Sam towed my truck, trailer and me to a KOA in Gallup, NM (60 miles), dropped my trailer in a good campsite, then took me and the truck to a GM dealer. Having done that, the wrecker took me back to my campsite.

I could not ask for more.

I have Good Sam Emergency Road Service and have been very satisfied with them. I used it once for a dead battery in my family car and a few weeks ago to change a tire on my tow vehicle with my trailer in tow. As we were on the Mass Turnpike, Good Sam was not allowed to respond and made arrangements with the Mass Turnpike for their service to change our tire. Both services were performed in approximatly 30 minutes. It felt real good having help with the large trailer trucks buzzing by us at 65+mph.

I have Progressive as my insurance carrier for my trailer. They provide a rider that gives you a national 800 number for road service to both the trailer and the tow vehicle. I've never had to use it but apparently on paper the services provided seem to be equivalent to those that Good Sam offer, which is the yard stick that most folks use in measuring road side services.

HI! I had a break down in my MH over the Labor Day weekend in Dallas and had to call Good Sam. The wrecker service took 5 hours to respond because GS only uses one service in that area. Problems started when neither GS or I knew what to do with the MH on a Sunday. I opted to have it towed to a Chevy dealership but was informed by GS that they would not pay for the tow unless the dealership would repair the mh. The dealership was closed and I decided that leaving the mh at the dealership was safer than leaving it on the side of I-20 even if I had to pay for the tow. GS finally agreed to pay for the tow. I guess this is good service in todays climate but I feel like they should be able to recommend a tow destination rather than leaving it up to the traveler in a strange city with no clue as what service is available

We broke down in Chicago at 12:30 AM. I called Good Sam and they suggested I lock the motor home and leave it until morning! When I said this was not acceptable they then informed me all tow trucks in the Chicago area were busy cleaning up after the tornadoes. Do any of you who live in Chicago remember a tornado in August? There were none reported on the news plus the police said there were no tornadoes. Needless to say, Good Sam never got a tow truck or service truck to us. We had to find our own. Now I am fighting to get them to pay for that. Maybe this is a good service in areas which have more RVs but not where we travel. We will be canceling.

I have AAA RV - I used them the other day for my stuck jack. They arrived within 1/2 hour and knew what they were doing - well worth the membership fee.
