road conditions Coeur d'Arlene to Enterprise

Looking at options for routes from Coeur d'Arlene, ID to Enterprise, OR (and on to Joseph/Wallowa Lake etc. Does anyone have experience and feedback they'd like to offer for;

• WA Hwy 95 SB to Lewistion ID
• WA Hwy SB 129/OR Hwy 3 from Lewistion to Enterprise.

We thinking of mid October if the weather holds, but may have to leave the Coeur d'Arlene leg for another trip.

Hyw 95 to Lewiston is a good road with no major grades or curves. Lewiston to Enterprise narrows down a bit with a pretty good drop down into the Grande Ronde River canyon and up the other side with curves down to 25 MPH. The last time I was through there the road surface was in good shape. The canyon part of the road is not the place to try to make time and has been known to scare some people. I don't hesitate to tow my 22' Safari through there, but I am not much bothered by hills and curves. Bogans Oasis by the Grande Ronde river serves great burgers.
