Recomendations near red Rock in Las Vegas

Hi! We are the proud new owners of a 1987 290 towing a smart car! Our adventure starts on 12-22-15 making our way from San Diego to Colorado. We are visiting family on the way and seeing Bruno Mars in concert in Vegas on NYE!! My brother lives near Red Rock and I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a place to park for a few days after the 1st. His neighborhood HOA is strict about RV's boats etc. We are staying a few night on the strip at circus circus but might want to move closer to them after the 1st.

Thanks!

Circus Circus KOA is really little more than the parking lot. The Sams Town casino out by Henderson is a little better for a casino RV park.

Don't have any recommendations, but wanted to say, nice set-up!

Thanks guys! I'm staying in the strip for NYE then heading to red rock which is up by Sumerland? That's where I'm looking to park.

red rock

is a nice state park. Since I have solar, and it has been a couple of years, I don't remember how many sites have electric. It was a great park to hike and walk in, lots of movie history, and very nice rangers.

We are leaving today from our home in Scottsdale and taking our 350 to Henderson NV for a week to spend Christmas with our son and his family. We decided to take it only after finding the Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort near the 160 & I-15 straight west of Henderson. It's beautifully landscaped with lots of amenities for comfort. We vowed never to stay at Circus Circus or any other of the Vegas RV "parking lots" ever again but this resort looks promising and is reasonably priced. It's a huge facility and also has a back section for low-cost overnight travelers. They also may have a section in this area for storage. It's worth calling them. Just google it to get the number. I think it would be an easy trip on the 215 to get there from where your family is. Your motorhome looks great. We had our 350 stripped and polished six years ago and can't understand why Airstream ever painted them originally. You will find you'll get lots of attention from other travelers. Enjoy your concert.

Just stay at Red Rock State Park...its a beautiful park with some great sites, trails, petroglyphs. The best sites are those where you back into your own little canyon. Never seen such cool sites anywhere else. And you get away from all the lights and noise when you're ready to count your winnings. jon

Update: I'll never stay at Circus Circus again. Even if it's NYE and we need to be near the strip. Red Rock campground was great. My advice is spend the few extra bucks and get a group site even if you are short a few people for the minimum count.

Yep...I warned you about how awful Circus Circus was. My son says it's going to close. Our stay at Oasis turned out to be perfect for our needs this time except for the cold weather which prevented us from enjoying the beautiful pool and spa area. It's just a few blocks West of Las Vegas Blvd near I-15 so getting around was easy. It only took 15 minutes to get to the strip to see "Jersey Boys".

Thanks! I'll do that for sure next time. The only saving grace was with the strip being shut down on NYE we were fortunate to be on it.

Awesome rig! Did it come with astronauts? I know it's 1987 but it reminds me of Apollo! Enjoy and travel safe!
