Reco for Spring Break 2016 Trip in coastal MS, AL, LA?
Hi! We are starting to think about Spring Break next year and would love to camp for the week on the coast. Any recommendations for beach-access campgrounds in Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana? Appreciate your help!

Grand Isle State Park, Louisiana. Louisiana only HAS two beaches, and Grand Isle is one of them.

Gulf Shores State Park in Alabama. Full hookups with 30 and 50 amps. Paved sites, some on a lake. Close to the beach. Lots to do. We try to go every year for spring break.

Another vote for Grand Isle.
A great drive down there, too, in my opinion.
Have a great trip!

There are many very nice campgrounds on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and the Alabama Gulf Coast. You may want to go in the back door on choosing a campground. Choose your attractions, museums, shopping, and restaurants first, and then choose a campground close to your activities. There are many campgrounds on the Gulf Coast.

We like:
Grayton Beach State Park
Santa Rosa Beach, FL
Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
Santa Rosa Beach, FL
You're not "on the beach" at either location. Grayton is very short bike ride or car ride from campground. Topsail is a little longer bike ride from the campground or you can take their free tram.

Those are not in Louisiana, Mississippi, or Alabama-
They are great parks, though-

As far as Alabama, Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, AL is nice, and the beaches are protected in that area so big dunes, no condos, and one of the longest piers on the Gulf Coast if you like to fish. Large park with swimming lake, golf course, cabins, and close to all the restaurants, shopping, etc. If you want something more remote, there are also several small private campgrounds 12 miles out of Gulf Shores on Mobile Bay on the Fort Morgan Peninsula (Bay Breeze and Fort Morgan RV Park). Small... maybe 30 sites each, and a little tight, but completely canopied over with live oaks and right on the bay with pier, swimming beach, etc. Land elevation is 10 ft above water too. Short drive (less than 10 minutes) to gulf side beach access adjoining Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge with miles of trails, lakes and swamps with gators, and huge sand dunes. We have a house not far from there and love the area. Depends on what you are looking for.
