diesel availability
HI
New to airstreaming as I just returned to chicago from california
with my used 2017 International signature 30 queen in tow.
Just curious as I am planning to to Alaska summer of "18".
What is the availability of deisel fuel on the trip, and should I add an
additional fuel tank to the bed of my f250 to increase its range?
Right now as it stands I can travel about 350 mi if I take it easy.
All input would be greatly appreciated

There must be diesel fuel as trucks take this route. I understand from reading about the Alaskan Discovery RVTour your TV should be able to drive about 250 miles on a tank of fuel. If not bring spare gas containers.
We are going in June first and it looks like we will be facing some road issues. Hence the guided tour with mechanic as part of crew. Wish us luck!

Absolutely get a fuel tank replacement. It makes a huge difference. I have a TransferFlow but Titan also makes one. Well worth the money.

We went up to Alaska in 2014 on the WBCCI caravan. We have a 2012 F350 diesel which only has the 26 gallon tank and before leaving I gave serious thought to putting in either a Titan or Transferflow underbed tank to increase to 50 gals. Either would have cost about $1500 installed at the time. Instead I opted to carry a couple of good quality 5 gal jerrycans for "just in case". They were not needed and I do not recall any instance in the 2 months we were up there of real fuel anxiety ( for me this starts at about half full). The bigger tank would be convenient for sure, but essential, no

If you're going up the Alcan Hiway be careful around the 350 to 360 mile post. There is a speed trap that has a speed limit of 55 KPH that is only about 200 yards long. That is next to a 100KPH speed zone. They radar you from a hill straight up the road approx. one mile ahead of you when you are heading towards Ft. Nelson.

I have a 50 gal Titan tank and it was nice to have the extra range. Our traveling friends did not. It was really no problem. They just needed to fill more often. So I feel it's not needed but sure was nice. Mine gives me a 500 mi towing range. Fuel is readily available along the route

Hi from AZ. . . having run out of gas in AK, this new truck has the 36 gallon tank, instead of 26. . . fueling stations can be pretty far apart on the Cassiar Hwy, & TOW Hwy. . . Craig

Did you frame that ticket and wall mount it for your friends? I know I would've.

No , I had to include it with my payment of the fine of$200.00 in a Money Order. Which was payable to the Insurance Corp. of British Columbia. Now I know how they pay for their socialized medical.
I checked the road on the way back down the hiway when I was returning and found the size of the speed zone. The limit is 100 KPH on each side of the 55 KPH zone. Which I said was only approx. 200 yrds long and over a mile out away from any settlement or housing.
