Propane. Cost in your area.
I just had my propane cylinders filled, and the cost was 1.04 per pound. Is this a good price? A pound of propane is almost a quart of liquid. Why not charge by the gallon? What are you guys paying for propane in your area? Any propane tips to share, so we all can benefit. Thanks... You guys are the best.

If you do an internet search on propane prices in your area, you can see your options. It does pay to shop around. In the south end of the Denver area, it ranges from $2.60 to $3.80 per gallon.

From what I found, Costco is the cheapest by far.
I fill an empty for $12 a cylinder. I know they aren't available everywhere but we are fortunate to have one near our home. I always depart with mine full.

I cannot find local propane prices online.
There are 2 petroleum companies here and I have bought from both.
It always seems reasonable, not overpriced.
Does Tractor Supply refill them or just do a swap like Walmart?
The swap is alright for the short white gas grill bottles, but you can't swap those tall, pretty aluminum tanks...

$3.35 gal a the local gas station, North county San Diego. They never changed the price for the last 6 years? I asked why they didn't change it with the drop in oil prices. They just shrugged "meh"

OMG DeltaRon , That's worth traveling to Cumming, Georgia for. It's $31.20 for 30lb tank at a hardware store in Brookeville Md.. Your Costco is 75% lower. From now on I'll pay more attention when shopping at Costco. I know their premium gas is ALWAYS cheaper at the pumps. I have never seen where they fill the cylinders at. Can you guys enlighten me please. $16.00 does sound better that $62.40 Thanks for opening my eyes.

30# bottle fill
In town Dallas/Ft Worth area the best price I have found is $28 at Ace Hardware and that is the same price regardless of amount put in.
South of DFW about an hour the Tractor Supply across from the NTAC (Airstream park) fillsl by weight and a 30# costs me about $12 if completely empty and less for a partial. I don't know the price per pound but it is definitely the best deal around here.
20# bottle fill
These can be exchanged just about anywhere but read the small print. Most sell 20# bottles with 15# of propane and I have seen them with as low as 12# so I have my bottles filled at Tractor Supply and only exchange if they need to be re-certified.
