On longer trips I add 2 day stays after 1 longer day drives. Sometimes is is 1, 1 then 2 if the two ones are not 400+ mile drive days. Generally I stop every 180 to 250 miles though. I've found this makes traveling across the country much more enjoyable.

I also use RV Trip Wizard. The only thing I don't like is it does NOT include all the parks along the route. This is where using Google to find parks help out. Once I find one on Google and then add the address as a custom stop in RV Trip Wizard.

One of the things you will discover with RV Trip Wizards routing is it take in your length and the fact that you are traveling with propane. There are some weird laws around the country that cause some of these longer routes.

New Jersey? Richmond? You are going the wrong way,,,,,, never trailer on I-95 unless you are being well paid to endure that white knuckle driving.

Head west to Harrisburg PA, then go south on I-81, then I-77 thru Charlotte and join up with I-95 in South Carolina. Last stop should be the Miccosukee Casino west of Miami, Cheap overnight dry camping (just check-in and pay)
then take advantage of their great food and entertainment so you are fresh for and early morning start and the south Dade/ northern Keys traffic.

We are FL residents. Try to go to Naval Station Key West, Sigsby Family Camp yearly. No way in the winter, though. No reservations available.
As you go south, we really enjoy the Little Havana Restaurant, 12727 Biscayne Blvd, North Miami, FL 33181. There is a branch in Deerfield but it does not have the same feel/atmosphere. We park in the Publix parking lot immediately north and on the west side of the street. Be careful crossing the road.
Once you are in the Keys, do the biggest tourist thing and ride the Conch Train. My first ride was in the early 60s when my uncle was stationed in Key West.
On your way out of the Keys and heading for west FL, be sure to stop at Everglades National Park. There is a large campground there, but water and electric only--no sewer.

Indoorsy - this is starting to sound like you are migrating to a new handle: OUTDOORSY! This plan looks much more enjoyable for you and your mate! Have a great trip and take some phone numbers of AS’er and friends that live along your journey, in case you need some help! Plus, ensure you have great road side assistance for the same reason. We had a challenge during our caravan this past October and Good Sam did not provide the best support for one of our participants.

Great advice!

We used to plan every night, and it was miserable. Now we know the end point, and make the rest up as we go. Sometimes it produces an experience you would never expect!
