I might be going to a conference in Dayton early in November. Halfway thinking of taking the family and pulling the Airstream. The alternative would be to stay in a hotel room. Ohio is not a place I would normally thing of as a good place to camp. I expect the conference will be close to Right Pat Airforce Base. I plan on taking the family to the Airforce Museum up there. If you have never been there, it is worth the trip. Anyone have any idea?
You would probably looking at freezing temperatures in November in Ohio so most campgrounds may be closed for the winter. I wonder if the Airstream Terraport is available, about 50 miles north of Dayton.
I have heard that if you are a present or past military person that there is a camping area on Wright Patterson Air force base that you could stay at. I am not past military so I have never looked into it. There is also Poor farmers campground and RV sales & service about 8 miles East of Troy Ohio. They are about 40 miles north of Dayton, but they may be closed for the season by November. Most private campgrounds in Ohio close down by the end of October. The other thing you might try are the Ohio State park campgrounds, they usually keep some camp sites open year around.
You might want to take a look at John Bryan State Park, near Yellow Springs, about fifteen miles east of Dayton. I believe they've got 10 electric and 50 non-electric sites, and restrooms but no showers. I think they're open until the end of the calendar year.
John Bryan has 10 electric, 7 of which can be reserved ahead of time and 3 are walk-in. We like the park and it is in the great little town of Yellow Springs. Nice mountain biking trails and fine hiking as well.
