There is a similar music theme caravan currently in play that you could try. Highway 61, I believe it is called. Ties in music venues with the Mississippi river and would have to include the fine food offered throughout that area.

Yes, South of Kansas City is a likely segment, so that's a great suggestion.

Not familiar with sugar pie. One to investigate.

Wine pairing ..... make your suggestions, but the Mince Meat with Brandy may over shadow most suggestions. Wonder if a good desert wine would encourage more or less pie?

The truck does relate the flavor of Pie City. Since we have grown tired of I40, a drop down to the bPies is viable and likely.

Not sure the reference to "home made" is what mom or grannie would have suggested. Pie yes, but ......

Peach pie got another vote. Yes!

This is starting to gets some multi-state traction. Great!

So, what is the test pie? What pie has to be good/great for a maker to prove they can bake? Some specialize on local ingrediants, like apple or wild Blue Berry (oh! wild Maine Blue Berry!) or Key Lime ..... but what do they have to do best? ...... Pat

There are a lot of pie suppliers here in the SanFran Bay Area but many of them are not in towing-friendly areas: FatApple in Berkeley has apple and usually about 3 or 4 others. I usually have to take the slice home after lunch though. Chow in Danville CA also has several varieties but always a tasty apple: not as good as mine though. so I guess that a sim
ple variety like apple is a contender for determining the quality of the prep work. The Penzey's FB site is a good location to discuss prep work: I have not tried to bake a pie in my convection/micro. Has anyone tried that?

So, that would be a vote for apple as the test variety. The Ikeda Market was reported to make a fine apple pie as well.

Not tow friendly is a valid point. So one of our challenges is to develop a pie pickup that addresses the parking element. The original thought was to parallel park the rig in front of the establishment and snap a picture of signage and shiny. That may not prove viable in all situations, so what other aproach has potential of success? Any ideas? Pat

Well I thought of an out of the way pie plus destination Mac’s Pride in McBee SC https://www.macspride.com/

A family peach farm from 1916 that many that travel from Charlotte NC to Myrtle Beach have stopped at for produce, baked goods tour the family museum and the festivals.

They know peaches and strawberries and a bunch more.

Easy access, easy RV parking a wow I didn’t know about this place.

East Coast, heading South and a vote for peach with Strawberry in the don't forget category. Starting to fill out more of the list.

There is a Wild Blueberry shop in Maine as you head up the coast. It is shaped like a big blueberry. Great pie and it did not last long. Tried searching for the place with no luck. Maybe someone has a picture.

The Pie Lady stories were in the North East. Parking while they bring out the pie should work. Some are supposed to have a honor system for payment, which is another perspective of a fantastic experience.

Yes, pie! But what about cream pie, pumpkin pie and ????? Pat

For a while, there was a trend to make German Chocolate Pie. Never found it in a shop. It was a mom special and the receipe came from a home maker group. Was rich, chocolate and not for the calory watching crowd. Well, maybe a very thin slice so more for those of us that never learned about those pesky calories. Pat

Huckleberry pies abound around the Snake River in Idaho. While you are at it take a jet boat tour through Hell's Canyon.

Personally I prefer strawberry rhubarb

Rhubarb, yes. That is a pie that mom made from rhubarb grown on our property. Did not have to wait for adulthood to like that pie. But oddly enough, it's not one I look for on a menu. I think it was a mom made it thing.

Huckleberry pie is one with which I have mixed emotions. Tastes great, but other berry pie does as well. The issue is that to get Huckleberries for your pie, you or someone else, has to pick them wild. That puts humans in competition with bears and that seems like a mistake. Pat

Bacon and cheeze, some eggs and a bit of baking gets you Bacon Pie. Pat

If any of you are going to the National WBCCI rally in Salem, Or this summer. Check out Willamette Valley Pies. It is about 5 miles away from where you will be at a farm. Can't be beat.

The WVPC has an interesting product line. Apricot Crunch would be fun to try. A slice of Chocolate Sinsation could not be given a miss. Spiced Honey Cranberry is courious enough to be part of an order. And then there is Raspberry or Strawberry Rhubarb to tempt the taste buds. Another destination for the list. Pat

Evidently, according to Julia, it is only appropriate to use bacon or cheeze, not both in your pie. Well, that may be one nation's opinion, but the table voted for both. It was great on the reheat this morning too. Pat

Often served with pie...ice cream

For those at the WBCCI...here are a couple of local offerings, killer with berry pies or solo

from Umpqua: Seasonal unfortunately
http://www.umpquadairy.com/our-produ...ry-cheesecake/

From Lockmead (Dari Mart convenience stores)
https://www.lochmead.com/product/?category=ice-cream

Enjoy!

Huckelberry cheesecake promoted at UmpQua and the Dari Mart has Egg Nog in the product list. We look for Egg Nog every year at Christmas. It is difficult to find. Would be great if Dari Mart has Egg Nog available through the year. Flavored ice cream does improve pie. Pat
