Ohio to Atlanta

We will be traveling down I-75 to Atlanta and want to find a nice place to spend a couple of days, possibly around the Knoxville area. Anyone have a place they really like?
Thanks

When visiting relatives in Knoxville, we stayed at the Misty River RV Park in Walland, about 15 mins south-west of the city:

Misty River Cabins & RV Campground

It's situated close to the Smokey Mountains Park, Pigeon Forge and all the touristy stuff and yet is in a lovely grassy area close to a river and, despite being quite close to a fairly busy road, was very quiet when we were there.

We don't often stay in commercial campgrounds but would definitely go back to Misty River; a cleaner and better run campground you'd be hard pressed to find.

I've just looked at the website and it looks to me as if the place has changed hands. There used to be a ton of information and videos available but now it's largely about Townsend Cabins and very little about the campground. Hopefully it'll be as it was but you never know

I just did this drive last week.

Those mountains are a little rough on the Suburban towing the 30' classic.

I kept on chanting "I think I can, I think I can........"

Where are you staying near Atlanta?

North of Atlanta, we stayed at Allatoona Lake RV Resort. Very nice spot.

We stayed at Red Top SP on Allatoona Lake. Nice park, but really screwed up check-in facility. Also I would suggest no trying for a back-in spot, those are tight. Stick to the pull-throughs.

Check out Stone Mountain Park Campground also. VERY nice!

we enjoy staying at the KOA in Townsend, TN. The summer rates are high, but most are in the Gatlingurg area. The campground is shady and sits on the banks of the Little River, near Gatlinburg but out of the traffic and congestion. Townsend can be accessed thru Maryville which avoids the heavy summer traffic in Pidgeon Forge. Townsend is near the Cades Cove area in the Great Smokey Mtn Natl Park. The 11 mile loop drive (or bike) thru Cades Cove is very scenic and its not unusual to see bears.
There are several campgrounds on Lake Allatona just north of Atlanta, but if you dont mind towing thru/around Atlanta (east side of town) then Stone Mountain is the place to stay.
