It is interesting.
The core technology in these systems is the sensor that goes inside the tire.
The wireless technology to get the signal to some type of monitoring device or warning system is usually semi-proprietary. These just use low power bluetooth to transmit.
What is interesting with the senors independent from the display, is that we could have many options to monitor and get alerts - even to internet systems outside the car or trailer.
It would be nice if the industry standardized the wireless interface from the tire sensors. But the vehicle makers will never want to open that interface up, so it may well be left to the aftermarket.
