New England Highway

We are planning a two week road trip in July from our farm in Ohio up to Maine. Does anybody have scenic roads along the coast to recommend taking in lieu of Interstate travel?

On a trip from Ohio to Maine there are very few secondary highways along shorelines. The bulk of those miles will be along Lake Erie and the non-water scenic views on Hwy 531 near Ashtabula won't be much different from elsewhere in Ohio.

If you check a map of Maine, you will see that shoreline is basically a series of long peninsulas jutting into the Atlantic making scenic views a destination event versus something that can be enjoyed as you drive between destinations. I'd suggest you look for an oceanside campsite where you can enjoy the view such as:

FYI Lucy's adventures:

Maine: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...ure-41642.html
plus Nova Scotia: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...ed-152034.html

The best tool for planning like this? A large-print spiral-bound road atlas like this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Rand-McNally-...1786232&sr=8-2

Works without electricity or batteries . . . . . . no Internet service or cell signal required.

You can highlight, mark up, etc. right on the real paper, and then carry the atlas to the tow vehicle . . . that is . . . it is very portable!

Happy Trails!
