New Campground in Southern California!

Crystal Cove Moro Campground will be opening on July 1. Reserve America just went live this morning for reservations. Anybody in the Southern California area should check it out, lots of spots still available. The RV sites are water and electrical only. Only draw-back is no wood fires allowed. On the plus side great beach, miles of hiking trails and close to Laguna Beach.

Wrong park, it's brand new under Crystal Cove SP Moro. RV sites with hook-ups and tent sites.

Go onto the Reserve America site, type in Crystal Cove for the location. Three choices will come up, you want Crystal Cove SP Moro.

Made reservations last night for the 4th of July weekend

We were wondering where we were going to spend the July 4th weekend, now we know. Without much else available over this popular weekend other than walk-ups and a daily lottery for the few campsites available, we figured we would be one of the first of the AS group to give the new campground a 'test ride'. I did a Google map search of the campground and it appears to be very sparse in vegetation and did not appear to have any trees yet. We are hoping that the plant life has grown since the overhead Google map picture were taken . We will let you know how it went when we return.

I wonder if their going to put a tunnel in to get across BUSY Hwy 1. Located right next door to an Elementary school. Great area tho. I use to surf down in that area. Lots of stuff to do. Let us know how you like it.

We were a little surprised to see the CG so close to the school, but with the long weekend they shouldn't be too noisy... (except for the large baseball diamond, soccer field, etc...). Figure we will go hiking up into the open canyons and hills behind the CG and do a 'mad dash' across PCH . I would have preferred something a little more secluded, but this is what was available on short notice. It may have been poor planning on our part, but we stared looking for CGs for the July 4th weekend shortly after we purchased the AS about 2 months ago and could not find anything that wasn't already fully booked up. We really wanted to celebrate our wedding anniversary in the our new AS, and now we can!

Oh brother, this is too cool! What a great OC location - not to mention that my parents live in Laguna Hills... so we'll get to maintain a little sanity when visiting.

Thanks for the heads up. I just booked Labor Day. This place is going to be really tough to get into when everybody figures it out. It's next to a school and PCH but its also within 1/2 mile of some $10 million plus homes.

We just booked a few days for each of the following few months including Labor Day! I look forward to seeing another airstream!

We will be in space 16. Will definitely be the shortest trip we have made.

Oh how funny!!! We're in space 15!
We've made shorter trips to Oneill Park and Caspers Park(as ours is stored in RSM), perfect for a quick weekend out...But this trip is closest to our home as we live in Laguna!

Took a drive thru the campground last night, they are letting some of the employees camp before the official opening. Beautiful vistas from every site, not as much noise from the highway as I thought there would be. The sunset was amazing! Sorry, forgot the camera.

Johnco,
Was there any shade? We will be there for 4 nights starting July 4th and from the Google aerial shots it looked a little baron. No telling how long ago those pictures were taken. Great news about the vistas, can't wait to celebrate our anniversary there!

Not really any shade. Good views and great mountain biking trails behind the campground. It reminds me of Ocean Mesa Campground above El Capitan in Santa Barbara.
