Need Suggestions for Lake City, CO
We are hoping to be in Lake City, CO for 3 nights in late August or early September. We have a 31' Classic pulling it with our new Ford F250. My wife also wants to drive her Jeep Wrangler. So, we're looking for a site large enough for everything.
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks!

Do you think their spaces are large enough for our stuff?

If you enjoy the national campgrounds Williams Creek campground is just outside of Lake City past the lake. It does not have electricty, but water is available and there's plenty of room for your rig and jeep... also it's right on the alpine loop...

Last year we stayed at one in Lake City but can't remember the name. It was on the south side of town at the intersection of rt. 149 and Cty. Rd. 14 I think. The people that ran it were very nice but it was very close quarters and also very crowded. Not enough space for what you're looking at. You may have to look a bit outside of town. Good luck, great area and the Alpine Loop is spectacular. We did it with our long wheelbase Dodge Megacab. Just be careful it's dooable.

Henson creek is the tight one. the others should have plenty of room. You can get there numbers of the web sights and give them a call to make sure.

Does anyone has any info on the Wupperman Campground? I think it's on Lake San Cristobal.
Thanks again!

We have stayed at the Highlander and would not hesitate to go back and would highly recommend calling ahead for reservations. For some weeks of the year they are booked a year in advance. The Alpine Loop is a must do... Personally I would prefer to do it clockwise as that puts me away from the drop off if meeting a vehicle coming the other way. You may want to consider a route to Lake City that circumvents Slumgullion Pass. The route to Creede is very scenic, but that pass isn't for everyone.
