Another great government site is the 6-day hourly forecast for each location. For instance, this one for Flagstaff AZ:
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...Type=graphical
. . . lets you assess weather conditions for the next few days. This chart is updated in real time based on the actual conditions in the area, so the overnight temps [for example] tend to be very accurate for the exact location.
Very helpful when assessing the need to winterize or protect pipes/tanks from freezing.
You can change locations by putting a new zip code etc. into the search box at the top. When a new NWS home page for that location opens up, just click on the blue link on the right for "Hourly Weather Forecast." Here is the home page for Flagstaff for instance:
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...2=-111.651&e=0
With tools like this available online, the need for a weather "App" is reduced for short-term forecasts. Also, the data needed for this chart is much lower than for a moving map etc., so accessing the info on a cell phone with an ordinary cell tower signal works just fine. Very handy when on the road.
Happy Trails,
