Need a campground in Prescott, AZ
Preferably with all hook-up i.e. power water & at least a dump station. Extended stay a plus!
Thanks

Try Points of Rocks RV Campground...close to town...full hookups and within walking distance of the Dells...a wonderful outcrop of huge boulders that you can walk through, hike and climb if you are so inclined...also close to the adjoining lake... We have stayed there... Rich Charpentier, an Airstreamer, photographer and friend lives in the park in his 25' AS, too (" gadgetat" on the forums). Point of Rocks RV Campground in Prescott Arizona See our travel log for pictures of the Dells and the campground: Heading to Central Arizona...
Enjoy!

Not a bad park, we've stayed there. Very close, in Cottonwood, is Dead Horse Ranch SP. A raunchy name, but a nice park. If you're going back and forth to Prescott, Point of Rocks would be my choice, as the trip up through Jerome, though pretty, is quite a climb. Do check out Jerome.

Just spoke to Point of Rocks and they don't like older trailers for monthly stays Any other ideas for our 65' overlander for the summer?

Hope to be on the road for the first time in June and am really curious about the Vintage discrimination at some of the parks. Is this common, and what is the logic when a totally redone AS beauty shows up?

Did you tell them your trailer is an Airstream in reasonable condition and you can't really tell how old it is? Sometimes parks who don't take older SOB rigs make exceptions for Airstreams...

Some private parks don't want older trailers staying in thier parks because they want to maintain what they perceive as their "image." If they do have restrictions on age it is usually made clear up front. If your AS trailer is in reasonable condition most will overlook the age requirement, especially if it's been restored or refurbished...besides, it's difficult for non-AS folks to really tell whether an AS is older or newer. If you are trying to make a reservation and they hesitate, and you want to pursue the reservation, offer to send them pictures. Pictures of what your trailer looks like may allow them to make an exception for you.

I mentioned that it was an AS but they didn't seem to care. Really disappointing. They said it wasn't an issue for short term but not on monthly stays. In fact they said that the like the look of the old airstreams but it's a policy. Seems stupid to me. Maybe we'll try the pictures idea...

We stayed at the Yavapai County Fairgrounds in Prescott Valley which is on the north edge of Prescott, alt 5100'. It was a little chilly and windblown the night we were there and the grounds were soggy after considerable snow and rain earlier. They have weekly and monthly rates. We paid $15 using Passport America (Three nights only.) Not every site has cable or wifi, so ask first. I see the website states a 25 yr old limit. Just tell them it's an '87. Who can tell the difference? There were a couple SOB's there that were defying the age rule, I'm sure.
