Mystic Springs Airstream Park (Florida)

Just finished a two day visit to the Mystic Springs Airstream Park north of Pensacola, Florida. I recommend it to anyone looking for some serious peace and quiet. In fact, we had the entire park to ourselves for two days..just us and the very nice park hosts.

There is not much in the immediate vicinity, but Pensacola is only a 35 minute drive and it offers all of the attractions and shopping.

If you are looking for a very inexpensive place with full hookups..this is the place.

Just by chance we are heading there tomorrow. Will be a good change from the snow we will have to escape on the way.

My WBCCI Unit was there in 2012 for a joint rally with another unit. I couldn't go, due to scheduling conflicts with work— work pays for Airstreaming, so I can't neglect it. But the campground is on my list of places to go in 2014, probably Mardi Gras weekend, to get away from the madness that is New Orleans at Mardi Gras.

Are you hosting there again this year?

We won't be leaving here until about 2/1. Plans include the Flywheelers in Feb and the "new" FSR in the keys in April.

Maybe we will cross paths down south. 6 degrees in TN this morning

Hi Doug! Frank and I were talking about you and Terry the other day, wondering if you were traveling.

Good thing you didn't stop by here to overnight on your way down -- it was below 0 last night!

Take care and safe travels.

We stayed there a couple of years ago, very hospitable folks. During the hot months the sandy soil was alive with ants but they never came inside the camper.

IIRC, its kinda remote with the nearest town being on the Fl/Al state line, a fairly small place.

We stayed there a couple if years ago. Beautiful quiet campground. While we were there, a cold snap froze our waterline for the first and only time! The host said it was the coldest night the campground had ever recorded. It's a great place to get away from it all!

I have been trying for months to make it over to one of their unit rallies, but something always comes up to prevent making the run over. They are very active and seem to have a rally almost monthly.

With a permanent location to hold one, they should have one monthly! Units that have to hunt for rally locations can't always make the logistics work.

Looks like a nice place. I will keep it in mind. Do you have to be a WBCCI member to go to these Airstream only parks?

You don't have to be a member at this particular park. I'm here right now, waiting for my new door handle. Sal

We stayed for one night a couple of years ago. I think there was one other couple present, but the hosts were not there.

Just before we arrived, I lost all brakes on the AS so we drove the last ten miles with just the truck brakes.

After we arrived, I started trying to troubleshoot without much luck, so I decided that we would stay just the one night then drive - carefully - to a campground in Pensacola where we would have access to an RV repair shop and a GM dealer. I made reservations in Pensacola to do that.

Later in the evening I was able to fix the brakes, but since we had already made the reservations in Pensacola by that time, decided to make the move anyway.

If I recall, there was something not on at the campground - either water or electric, i forget which, so ourselves and the other couple present had to do without. No problem for just the one night.

It looked a nice enough place, but was a bit too remote from everything for the tourist stuff that we wanted to do - most of which was in Pensacola, so in our case I think it was fortuitous that we wound up making the move!

Brian.

We were there last year after the Mardi Gras Rally. Loved the place, it was great to get away from the noise. Easy to get to Pensacola and then back to the peace and quiet.
