I don't generally clean up old sealant. That is a major job. Acryl-R will stick to itself and most other things, but especially your fingers. Eventually the sealant gets so thick you have to clean it off and start over, but that is years away.

It never gets rock hard and isn't supposed to so it can flex. It dries very fast. I could smooth it at about a minute or less, but after that, vigorous wiping with a solvent is necessary. One of the annoying things is the thin threads that stick to the pump tip and get on the trailer body—just one of the things to deal with. Also, keep cleaning the tip so you can run a better bead. Start up high somewhere no one can see what you've done. It takes a while to learn how to run a decent bead.

We cleaned the old sealant with alcohol to get the dirt off. Alcohol evaporates fast and leaves no residue.

I used acetone as a solvent, but Acryl-R recommends other things. They are all about the same so far as I know. You can go to the Acryl-R website and download the specs for more information.

This gets tedious, so if you want to do everything, space it out over a couple of days. Look carefully for pinholes, voids and the like in the original sealant. You want to make sure you fill them. The stuff on the roof is sealed with white Sikaflex, but Acryl-R will stick to it and you can use that or get a tube of Sikaflex.

But, if the dealer sealed the front pano, won't they stand behind their work and fix it?

That pathway for water will always exist, any gasket and sealant applied will eventually fail and the damage will occur again.
I agree on the statement the seam/gasket will eventually fail...then again so do brakes on a car, a battery e.t.c......it will require me to maintain a schedule to keep it in order. Like pretty much everything in life.

Everything will wear out and fail eventually.Only I can prevent bigger problems by proper maintance.

Shane

Thought I saw this rig yesterday going thru Corpus Christi en route to Padre or Matagorda Island. If not, it was a twin. Best to you and yours in all cases.

Read this thread if you have not already.

Someone posted a stain on their floor and I replied with this link and re-read this entire thing.

I sure hope everyone has or had the same experiences I had.

Still have mine, but is currently at DFW Airstream getting:

New TV Antenna
2 new Fantastic Fans
Broken hinge on door
New step being installed.

Stream Safe.
