Mt. Katahdin, Maine Suggestions

My son is celebrating his tenth anniversary of his through hike of the Appalachia Trail by walking the last couple miles again up Mt Katahdin. This time he will be carrying his new born daughter and not his back pack. I need suggestions of campgrounds which are dog friendly and suitable for Chummy. I understand that the state park is not dog friendly or suitable for Chummy, is this true?
Than ks for the help.

I haven't camped in the area (well..not rv camped, anyway), but I can tell you that it is "remote"...ain't much around up they-ah.

BUT, depending on your route, you may be passing quite close to my neck of the woods. make sure to look us up.

I hiked in Baxter State Park (where Mt Katahdin is located) about 5 years ago - as was previously posted, it is located near the town of Millinocket in a very remote region.
According to this website, vehicle length is restricted to 22' for a single inside the Park.
IIRC, RV campgrounds in the area are few and on the primitive side. Hope this doesn't deter you from making the trip, for this is truly one of the most unspoiled, spectacular regions I've visited.
