Mid-March best route - CT to Battle Mountain, NV

We bought an Airstream last year so we can get to see our kids out west. Not keen on using air travel with the virus rampage. We live in CT.

Our first big trip is being planned for leaving mid-March and heading to Northern Nevada, then Southern CA.*

Would*you have any tips on best, southern route across? I've ridden a motorcycle CT to San Diego at this same time of year and rode through a lot of snow on RT 40. I've heard horror stories about driving through Dallas with a trailer.

Weighing the options of Rt 40 vs. Rt 20 vs Rt 10. Wondering if we can bypass Dallas.*
