I have much to check into. You all have been very instrumental in helping me plan this trip.. Interesting that not one person said, don't go it's not worth it.
Must be a special place. Glad I decide to go there, now more than ever.

We stayed at a very nice RV park---just east of Mesa Verde.....there is one other--not so nice...just poke around...you will find it...sorry, I cannot remember the name. Check out the wild horses at Mesa Verde....super cool!

be sure and take your walking shoes and ladder climbing shoes not a place for bad knees

Reading all of the Tony Hillerman Navajo novels has sparked great interest in visiting this area -- have it on my bucket list.

We stayed at Sundance RV park on Main street in Cortez last summer. The staff is very nice and it is exceptionally clean with full hookups, great showers/restrooms and laundry. This is in town and is not a spacious campground, but it is close to groceries, restaurants, etc. Don't miss the drive through the Valley of the Ancients to Hovenweep National Monument. It is similar to Mesa Verde and quite beautiful. This is also an easy trip to Moab, UT. to see the Arches.

We also stayed at the Sundowner RV Park in Cortez. Nice little town, nice park, quiet, well kept, once management. Grocery store just a short walk away.
