Maiden Voyage was a success!
The Airstream pulled like a dream....the trip was a one day trip as we ended up here just after dark...the hard part of the journey was going east off of I-35 and going to Bartlesville. Some very long climbing hills there and I can't believe the transmission pulled through. I will never go this route again with the long hills. Let me see if I can find a picture of our new home.
Oh and thankyou everybody for getting behind me on this with all your advice, I really mean it too.

It might be easier if you PULL the trailer uphill rather than pushing it ;-)
Just kidding - glad you're enjoying it!!

Okay . . I lost track somewhere. Is this the first time the TT has been towed by you all? Or is it a different TT? A different TV? I checked OP posts going back to last summer, but no help.
So, why is this the maiden voyage A-Q?
Thanks
.

If that's a E40D transmission in that (mid 90s?) Ford PU, make sure to fit a bigger than stock cooler and a transmission temp gage - these will keep you calm and the transmission cool and collected.

This was the very first long distance pull. We have had this AS for about six years, and had to work our way upgrading through three different trucks to get to the one we have now. The AS pulled like it wasn't even behind me.

mstephens I had placed a volunteer position post for the Corps of Engineers, and kind of told them I could go any where...then got a call from this Lake (Big Hill Lake), and we took the opportunity. I give them 20 hours a week - give or take a few hours...in trade for a fifty amp with water and sewer hook up. Fresh water every where and the fish - they are a jumpin. lol

Thanks Dennis, Airbrush is the primary thing I do, so I figured why not live in an Airstream out on a nicer than usual lake/park, trade out for rent space and have a working retirement.

Long hills, with shallow slopes, are better than steep hills with more severe slopes. The faster you gain altitude, the harder your engine has to work. Ditto for the down-slopes, the longer and shallower, the better. Steep ones are more dangerous.
So maybe you'll want to use the same route again after all, rather than looking for another route that reaches the same altitude more quickly.
