I am enjoying you posts and revisiting the places we saw in 2000. Wish we could go back again and see the things that we missed on the 1st trip around. There were lots of museums that we just didn't have time to see.

I am so glad to know that others are traveling around and seeing this wonderful country of ours. Take care and enjoy

Thanx for the info.

Thanx maxandgeorgia for the tips on Cody and the Little Bighorn. We'd like to hit the Little Bighorn. I have been there, but SuEllyn has not. We have both spent time in Cody. We have a dear friend who has a ranch about fifteen miles out of town. We have even spent an evening drinking at the bar in the Irma Hotel.

Day 20 - June 2, 2007

We spent the morning looking around West Glacier and Hungry Horse. We found a really neat old Avion along side of the road. It even had an Avion Club decal still on it.

We went into Glacier National Park this afternoon. Going-to-the-Sun Road was not comp-letely open yet. There is still snow in the high passes. There is 14 miles of it open fron the southwest end. We drove this part of the road along the lake. Therte was some breathtaking scenery alsong the way.

We went back to Lucy early and grilled a steak. A good day was had by all.

Heys neighbors. I was just wondering if your photos are copyrighted because I have been using the waterfalls and mountain views as backgrounds on my desktop, lol. They are great. Stay safe.

That is Lake McDonald which the Going-to-the-Sun Road parallels for about ten miles. It is a gorgeous drive with snow-capped mountains visible across the lake for the entire route.

Now that you've become Glacierized, you may become an addict, as I have, of this site - I find myself checking these webcams almost daily, refreshing my memories of Glacier. It is especially fun in the winter when you can see the effects of recent snomstorms.

With the quality of your presentations, someone is bound to ask-
What type of camera are you using?

The camera that we took most of the pictures with is a Nikon Coolpix S1 (02/2006) set at the second to the lowest pixels, mainly to be able to post on the Forums. A few of the pictures were taken with our Sony f707 (10/2002) set at the lowest resolution.

Day 21 - June 3, 2007

Today we drove over to East Galcier to do the eastern side of the Going-to-the-Sun Highway. The drive over there was beautiful. We found a little town along theway called Essex. There is a hotel there called the Izaak Walton which is an old Burlington Northern Railroad building that was used to house their train crews. The active BN yard is still outside. The building became a hotel about 30 years ago. The entire interior is decorated with railroad memorabillia and is very interesting. We ate in the hotel dining room and had their specialty, a buffalo burger. It was really good. The hotel has four old BNRR cabooses across the track that also serve as hotel rooms. We toured one and they are really neat.

We continued on into the east end of the park. The scenery along this drive was breathtaking. It was a long run. We didn't make it bake to lucy until about 9:30, but it was still dusk.

Camera Tip

Brian,

I've always been advised to shoot at the highest resolution possible. This gives you more pixels to work with if you later want to crop photos for printing and framing. Your photos have been very good and you may want that flexibility when you get home.

What I do is us download the photos to my computer, then use an image editing program (iPhoto, Photo Shop, etc.) to create a 640 x 480 copy to upload to the forum.

Randy
