You may want to replace the other rear tire just for peace of mind.

Have a great remainder of your trip.
I've thought about that. We've become gun shy when it comes to Lucy's tires. I've been checking pressure every day and visual/kick inspection at each stop. We've been thinking about replacing all of Lucy's tires and adding a Pressure Pro monitoring unit. Thanx for the info.

I don't know if it does more than make me feel better but I usally feel the tires for temp whenever I stop. I also picked up a $50 aircompressor this weekend so I don't ever have to start the day with less than optimal tire pressure.

Be sure to takes pics at the "snake river overlook" and see the 'sleeping indian'- totally cool!
We are at a campground in Jackson this morning. We plan to leave Lucy here for a couple of days and explore Grand Teton NP in Olivia. We are into Moose viewing and understand that they are quite common in the Gros Ventre campground in the evening. We plan to hang out there around dusk and see if we can catch a moose or two.

We do plan to go on up to Yellowstone after we are through here. We're hoping to get into the Flying Bridge Campground in the park. This is a great time of year to be here. There are no crowds yet. The weather is not being super cooperative. It's very cloudy and more rain/snow is expected. It was in the 30's last night, but going into the 50's today. The cloud cover gives the mountains an eerie beauty.

Thanx for the tips. We'll check out the phot opps and keep an eye out for your Dad.

The photographer in me would kill for those conditions, can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanx for the tips. We have one of those jump start/compressor units that has worked great to maintain tire pressure in both Lucy and Olivia. It also works great to jump a vehicle and use as a portable 12 volt DC power supply. We have one in each truck. They're a good deal at Sam's at $44. The same unit is $65 at Wal-Mart, go figure. We also have one of those infrared temperature detectors which I use to check exact tire temp. I look for any variance between Lucy's tires. All my precautions were apparently not enough to prevent Lucy's blow-out. That's why I've convinced myself that a Pressure Pro unit is worth the money. We were very fortunate that the blow-out didn't do any real damage to Lucy's skin. If the Pressure Pro can prevent serious skin damage, it's worth the price many times over.

Day 8

Lucy had a restful day. She stayed at the campground hanging out with her buddies (all SOB's save one). We went into Grand Teton National Park. Even though it was cloudy and cold most of the day, the scenery is breathtaking. We took a lot of pictures and below are a few. We stayed in the park until about 10:00 PM. We were trying to do some Moose spotting after dark. No luck tonight. We plan to see more of the park tomorrow.

Tell me, is the last photo from the "Snake River overlook"... and if so, were you standing on the wall, or perhaps over it??? Those trees in the front have seriously grown since I was there last!!

My dad got married there on the 4th of July- of course in full cowboy garb!

I sure hope you see a moose, I think they're getting harder to spot- I knew a guy in Jackson that had a moose move into his backyard- sorta became pesky like the deer in mine.. but this was 25 years ago (or more)!

Thanks for the pics... hope the weather warms up for you!!

Yes, the last picture was taken at the Snake River Overlook. I was standing right at the wall.

We drove by the Cowboy Bar last night, but we didn't go in since it was after 10:00 PM and we weren't in the mood to have to fught our way out.

We were out way past dark last night in the boggs with a spotlight and all we could find was a lone buffalo.

It was 29 degrees last night and we have snow flurries here this morning.

A trick from an old log truck driver. Set your tire pressure cold then check them hot on a moderate day. That should be your upper pressure limit. When it gets really hot outside, check the pressure and don't let it get too high.

The down side is when they cool, you have to air 'um back up. Then again, his truck was a '50's bus chopped down running recaps.

Anyone using Nitrogen? We saw a much smaller perssure increase in our Racing Karts when they came up to temp.

Day 9 - May 22, 2007

It was 29 degrees and snowing when we got up this morning. We tried to get some pictures, but the snow didn't stick. We extended our stay here in Jackson by two days. The campground told us if we wanted to stay, we would have to change sites. A real pain, but what are you going to do. We spent half the morning moving Lucy about 50 feet. We spent the rest of the day in the Park scoping out areas where we might see a Moose. We went by the Teton Village Ski Resort area just to see it. It wasn't super impressive. We got Olivia a very needed bath. We went to downtown Jackson to see the Antler Arches. We did some evening moose hunting without any success. We were able to get a reservation up at Yellowstone at the Fishing Bridge RV Park. This campground is inside the park.

We followed that road north thruogh Teton Villiage, it turns into a real pretty 2 lane road, saw a moose in there. One of only 2 we saw on that trip. FWIW.

If it makes you feel any better, I was camped in Yellowstone about 15 years ago. It was 4th of July, and we woke up to 4 inches of snow.

BTW, we saw moose in the swampy area north of Jackson Lake.

Enjoy

Thanx for the tip on the moose. We'll be sure to look there. We're going to head up to Yellowstone tomorrow morning.
