Sorry about that scare, traveling the east coast for many years I can vouch for your experience. Keep safe as you travel and enjoy the adventure.

We slept in this morning. Lucy is still camped in Kingsland, Georgia. We decided to spend a second night here and do some looking around.

We drove down to Fernandina Beach, Florida. Fernandina Beach is a trendy beach town which is just north of Amelia Island. Just north of Fernandina Beach is Fort Clinch State Park. We also went into the park to have a look around.

We then headed back into Georgia to visit St Marys. St. Marys is a small historic town that was founded in 1787. It was occupied by British Troops for a short period during the War of 1812. The town of St. Marys is directly on the St. Marys River which is the Florida/Georgia State Line.

We got Diesel for $5.08/gal at WalMart in St. Marys.

We arrived back at Lucy just before dark and enjoyed a dinner of roast beef sandwiches from Publix.

Brian

Today's pictures include:

- Lucy and Vivian at their campsite in Kingsland.

- The 1838 Amelia Island Lighthouse in Fernandina Beach. It is the oldest lighthouse in Florida.

- Canopy roadway in Fort Clinch State Park.

- The Beach in Fort Clinch State Park.

- Vintage travel trailer camped in Fort Clinch State Park.

- Fort Clinch was built in 1847 to protect Cumberland Sound.

- Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church was established in this building in 1847. The building had been the First Bank of St. Marys.

Lucy broke camp in Kingsland this morning and we headed north along the coast mostly on US 17. We towed Lucy through downtown Savannah, Georgia. This is a pursuit not for the faint of heart. The Savannah streets are old and narrow and the turns are really tight. Lucy made it through Okay.

We then went out to explore the beaches on Tybee Island. We returned to the mainland and continued into south Carolina, up through Beaufort, and to Hollywood, South Carolina just out side of Charleston. We got Lucy a nice campsite at the Lake Aire RV Park.

We had supper in Lucy and settled in for the night.

Today's pictures include:

- Flash, the mini-horse, who is a full time guest at the campground in Kingsland.

- Old filling station along US 17 in Midway, Georgia.

- Ornate twin steeples on the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Downtown Savannah, Georgia.

- !950's Royal Palms Motel along the strip on Tybee Island, Georgia.

- The beach on Tybee Island.

- The 1932 Tybee Post Theater on Fort Screven.

- Some remaining structure of Fort Screven along the oceanfront.

- The 1736 Tybee Island Lighthouse.

- Downtown Savannah from the bridge to South Carolina.

Yep, trying to be “considerate” for one can be disastrous for others.

In California it’s illegal to make a move to allow another vehicle to merge. Truckers move over to avoid idiots trying to merge under their trailers, but they’re not supposed to.

I climbed Tybee Island light years ago. Got to the top where there's a door leading out to the walkway. Being macho, I walked on to the walkway and 'froze'. It was too high and too flimsy for my senses, I guess. I worked my way back to the door with my back plastered against the wall, and was glad to be inside.
I've been in balloons, helicopters, all kinds of small airplanes, even a blimp, and I never freaked out like that before or since.

Just an FYI - local fuel here in Central New Jersey ranges from $5.99 - $6.75 and going up pretty much every day. As a reference to what I call central Jersey we’re just a couple miles from Six Flags Great Adventure. Our vacation this year may be parking the camper in our woods facing away from the house lol. Safe travels!

Yesterday we toured Historic Charleston, South Carolina. We spent several hours walking and driving through downtown Charleston. We really enjoyed our visit.

We had an early dinner of a Low Country Boil at a local restaurant. A low Country Boil consists of shrimp, sausage, red potatoes, and corn on the cob all boiled together in Old Bay Seasoning. It is very good and very messy.

On the way back to the campground we made a stop at WalMart and we also filled Vivian with Diesel at $5.29 per gallon.

We arrived back at Lucy around 7:00 PM to find that it was 97 degrees inside the trailer. After checking all power systems, we determined that Lucy's air conditioner has given up the ghost and quit working.

After a brief discussion, we decided that the best course of action was to return home to Santa Rosa Beach. We broke camp and headed out at about 8:30 PM. We drove unitil about 1:30 this morning. At that point Lucy's interior had cooled down enough for us to get a few hours of sleep. We made camp in the WalMart parking lot in Macclenny, Florida. We got up around 6:30 AM this morning and continued to Santa Rosa Beach. The total trip home was about 550 miles.

We arrived home around 12:30 PM and got Lucy tucked into her spot in the alley behind our house. Our trip may have been interrupted, but we still had a great time.

Brian

Yesterday's pictures include:

- Charleston 1880's commercial block.

- The 1719 British Customs House.

- A private home garden entrance.

- Shaded walkway along Battery Park.

- Number 2 Meeting Street, a Queen Anne style home built in the 1890's.

- A classic side porch residence. There are many of these in Charleston.

We’re sitting about an hour W of CHS at Colleton SP waiting for it to cool a bit. Low 90’s? Today. It’s a small but not too bad SC SP. All new water, power and sewer at sites. They tuned it up it shows.

Bad news about AC good luck.

No AC worries in Colorado. We are suppose to get a foot of snow tomorrow. Spring time in the Rockies as they say.

Maybe Lucy would like to get all juiced up with 50 amp service and two air conditioners. She would be the talk of the campground.

Maybe the short trip is a blessing as I read the northeast USA is having yet another surge of Covid cases. Here we go again.
