Lucy remains camped in Ellsworth. We went out to explore the Schoodic Peninsular a little further up the coast. On this little outgrowth of land is a non-contiguous section of Acadia National Park along with several quaint New England fishing villages. The views continue to amaze, especially down at Schoodic Point where the surf pounds upon the rocks incessantly.
We made our way back visiting several of the fishing villages along the way. The town of Corea was especially scenic.
We got back to Lucy's campsite in time to partake in a covered dish dinner at the campground. We had a nice time and some really good food.
Tonight's pictures include:
- The 1934 Ellsworth, Maine City Hall.
- Ocean and mountain views from US 1.
- View along the road from the road in the National Park.
- Winter Harbor Lighthouse.
- Surf on the rocks at Schoodic Point.
- Gull taking flight from the rocks.
- Poppies in a yard in Corea, Maine.
- Lobster traps on a dock in Corea.
- Corea fishing fleet.
- Lobster buoys being cleaned in a lobsterman's yard.

Today was a laid back day. We really needed a break from vacationing. This is really grueling. Lucy is still camped in Ellsworth, Maine. We slept in late and had a leisurely morning. This afternoon, we headed up to Bangor, the big town about 25 miles north of Ellsworth.
We visited Sam's Club in Bangor and had our traditional 'lunch at the club', We spent the day relaxing and contemplating where Lucy will head next. As we have not decided our next direction, we will sleep on it and decide tomorrow.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Wild Lupine along the roadway.
- Medium sized Maine Mosquito taking a break in someone's front yard.
- Coming into Bangor.
- The 1897 Bangor Fire Department Hose Company Number 8 Station House near Downtown Bangor.
- Victorian home in Downtown Bangor.
- Unusual clock in Downtown Bangor.
- The 1920 Penobscot Theatre in Downtown Bangor.
- Mural reminiscent of a vintage post card.
- Ellsworth City Clock.
- Downtown Ellsworth, Maine.

How about Prince Edward Island? We went there in the 90's, before the bridge, and had a great time!
Are passports required to enter Canada (in case you did not bring them)?
Happy Trails.

Hi Peter,
We have been thinking about going over into New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island. You do now need a Passport to return from Canada. We do have our Passport Cards with us.

FYI PEI has the warmest ocean water north of Cape Hatteras, due to an eddy off the Gulf Stream, so it is possible to swim there. Not so in Maine . . . Brrrrrr . . .
Great beaches too.
Have fun!

Not much to report today. We have decided to make a foray into Canada starting tomorrow. We spent most of the morning planning routes and arranging for campgrounds. We hope to make it to a Canadian National Park on the eastern tip of Nova Scotia. This park is rumored to harbor large numbers of Mooses. We aim to find out.
We spent the afternoon taking on supplies and making another trip down to the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound. We bought several containers of freshly picked Lobster. We returned to Lucy late this afternoon and tried some of the Lobster to make sure that it was good. It was very good. The other lobster packages are in Lucy's freezer to enjoy on our out of country adventure.
We have already started to prepare Lucy for travel.
Tonight's pictures include:
- View from the Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound overlooking Frenchman Bay.
- Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound.

Just caught up with you. Lots of memories of places I have lived and places I've been. I've been on just about every mile of US 11 starting in 1951. I also remember the traffic on that interstate from Pt. Jervis to Connecticut in 2008 and how I had forgotten about traffic in the northeast.
Good moose luck.

PEI is wonderful. My mother's family was from there so we went every year for a long time. We went back a couple of years ago, after about 20 years away. Like most places, the big city sprawled, but the rest of the island hasn't changed much.
We stayed at the KOA just outside of Charlottetown. I'm usually not a big fan of KOA's but this was a beauty. We took a site right on the water in our brand new 25' FC. Within a day that entire row of sites along the water (nicely spaced) was taken up by 25' Airstreams and one 27'. And only two of them were traveling together.

After five nights in Ellsworth, Lucy packed up this morning and we headed out east across the rest of Maine and into Canada. We crossed into Canada this afternoon at St. Stephen, New Brunswick. We continued across the Provence of New Brunswick to Moncton where we got Lucy settled into a campground for the night. Tomorrow we expect to cross into Nova Scotia.
Now that we have crossed into Canada, our emails are dependent upon having wifi access. There may be some skipped days if we cannot get on the internet. We lost an hour and are now in the Atlantic time zone. Telephone access may be sketchy also.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Fred and the Girls all set to take off this morning.
- Victorian home in Hancock, Maine.
- Dock in Whiting, Maine that rises almost 20 feet with the tide.
- The 1860 Redclyffe Hotel in Robbinston, Maine.
- Approaching Canada Customs in St Stephen, New Brunswick.
- Coming into dense fog on New Brunswick Highway 1.
- Downtown St. John, New Brunswick in thick fog.
- The fog finally lifted east of St. John.
- RCMP Patrol Car at a rest stop.
- Fred and the girls settling in at the campground in Mocton, New Brunswick.

Wow, four lane highway. I don't remember that when we were there in 2004. Not sure that is progress.
Are you going to see the tidal bore in Moncton?
In Halifax, there is a good museum downtown. I think it is billed as a nautical museum and it has (or had) a section on a munitions explosion during World War I in the harbor. Devastated half the city. Halifax is quite attractive city on a great harbor.

Great music scene in Halifax echoing a lot of Appalachian themes, or maybe it is the other way around . . . as the music came from Europe by sea both to the Canadian maritime provinces, and also to the mid-Atlantic coast of what is now the US. [Jamestown, Williamsburg, Plymouth MA etc.]
Both bodies of music rooted in the Gaelic/Irish/Scottish traditions . . .
What a world!
Happy Trails,
Peter

Hi Gene,
No, we are going to skip the sights in Moncton and head out to Cape Breton National Park. We were able to get a campsite near the park this coming weekend. We were lucky to get this as it is the Canada Day Holiday Weekend. We're skipping Halifax for the time being.

We broke camp in New Brunswick this morning in a steady rainfall, and continued east into Nova Scotia. It rained on us just about all day. We took some of the back roads along the coast, but since it was raining, we went back over to the main highway.
We arrived at Lucy's campground in the early evening. Lucy covered right at 200 miles today. We had to set her up in the rain. Our campsite has a water view, but we couldn't sit out to enjoy it. We have now settled in for the night.
Tonight's pictures include:
- Roadside vegetable truck in Moncton.
- The first sign that Mooses could be present.
- Windmills in Nova Scotia.
- Arriving at the Nova Scotia Welcome Center.
- Downtown Amherst, Nova Scotia.
- Wallace, Nova Scotia fishing fleet.
- Coming into Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia.
- Antigonish, Nova Scotia in the pouring rain.
- Sign for wild blueberry packing plant near Linwood, Nova Scotia.
- Lucy's waterfront campsite in Linwood, Nova Scotia.

Great read Brian. For us following along this trip is good as are planning an eastern seaboard trip this fall but it will be from north to south. Not south to north as your heading
Cheers

Lucy Has Escaped!
Looks like like that poor moose on the sign may have hurt his right front leg. It appears to be bending like a human knee, not a moose elbow.

Lucy broke camp this morning in Linwood, Nova Scotia. It was still raining off and on as we got ready to depart. About the time we got underway, the rain started in earnest. We made our way through the Nova Scotia countryside and on to Cape Breton Island.
We continued up the west side of the Island to the town of Cheticamp where we had reserved a campsite for Lucy. We arrived in the late afternoon and Lucy settled in. While we were setting up, another Airstream from Arizona appeared in the campsite next to us.
There was still some daylight left, and we decided to take a run into Cape Breton Highlands National Park and ride some of the scenic Cabot Trail. The sites of the mountains and ocean were really impressive.
We even spotted a young Bull Moose making his way across the Cabot Trail. We got some great pictures today.
We didn't make it back to Lucy until after dark.
Tonight's pictures include:
- The view from Lucy's kitchen window this morning.
- Crossing the bridge onto Cape Breton Island.
- Lucy's new friend form Arizona.
- Coming into Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
- Ocean view from the Cabot Trail.
- The Cabot Trail making its way into the mountains.
- The Cabot Trail overlooks the Ocean.
- The mountains meet the Ocean.
- A young Bull Moose makes his way across the Cabot Trail.
- A gorgeous sunset on the Cabot Trail.
I tries posting this last night, but the Internet was marginal. I tried the pictures again this morning. They still won't post. i'll try them again later.
