Low-Country Love
Long an area of the country near and dear to my heart, Lily and I have discovered Blythe Island Regional Park, near Brunswick, GA, and Skidaway Island State Park, near Savannah, this trip.
I have added them to Edisto Beach State Park, near Charleston, SC, on the list of favorite, must-stop, camping spots in this part of the country. 
I neglected to get photos of Blythe Island, but it is very similar to this one....just more sand rather than leaves. Roads at Skidaway are paved, which is great for biking. They also have laundry facilities in all the bathhouses, and give a 20% discount if you are 62+. 
Huge, moss-hung trees abound at both.....what's not to love. 
If you have not visited and thoroughly explored the Low Country, I highly recommend it.

I know.
I look at the temps at home this winter, and wonder how much firewood I would have left if I had been home all winter. 
We've been gone awhile, actually....just working our way here.

Yes, signs of our early history is everywhere...from graves to battlefields, to museums, to homes,to buildings, to continued food traditions, to gardens and so much more. Our country had its beginnings along the east coast. We found confederate buttons in our yard.

Have you tried Huntington Beach State Park between the two you mentioned. We used to camp there a lot and eventually had a place on the next Island out, Fripp Islan (no camping there). Sold that and went back to RVs.

The beach campground at Edisto. Simply....the best.
But, then, I truly love it all.
Start me at St. Marys, off the ferry, point me north, and it's all good.

Before you head north from Saint Mary's, be sure to stop one park south, at Fort Clinch state park (FL)! live oaks, Spanish moss, beach, forest, ocean, river, fishing pier, subs passing by, nearby old town, and, of course, the Fort! Joe

All the beach state parks in SC are special.
Hunting Island SP near Beaufort
Edisto Beach SP near Charleston
Huntington Beach SP south of MB
Myrtle Beach SP in MB
Additionally, there are many other wonderful state parks in SC.
For those needing a stop, we have p/e courtesy parking here located near HHI, Beaufort and SAV.

Maggie, don't forget to check out site 9 at Edisto Beach. As of last Christmas, the local Dragon was still keeping the site for himself.

I recently discovered this location, while looking online for loose Constant Comment Tea.....once available in a home grocer, not so any longer.
Going to have to pay them a visit.

East coast....South Carolina down thru to the Florida state line....and some beyond that, in my opinion.
A spectacularly beautiful, historic part of the country.
