Los Alamos, NM area RV park suggestions?
Just curious if any one has been and stayed in this area lately. Look like by the post from 2010 choices are pretty slim for full hookups... We are not much into boondocking if can avoid it. It appears we may have to stay closer to Santa Fe unless something new has come available in last few years. Just going for 2 - 3 days to see that area of our history.
Thanks for any suggestions. Jim

White Rock visitors center is nice. Not full hookup, just power with a dump/water station. Just down the hill, in a roundabout fashion from Los Alamos.
Los Alamos has a small RV parking area on the east end of town but no power. There is a dump station/water.
After that closest parks in towards Santa Fe.

I used to live in Los Alamos. There's not much in the way of full-hookup camping up on the hill. Depending on traffic, the spots in Santa Fe are 45-60 minutes away. If you're going to drive an hour, you might consider staying in Taos. There are a few nice campgrounds up there, and the 80-minute drive to Los Alamos takes you through some of the most beautiful parts of our fine republic.

There is the Roadrunner RV park across from Buffalo Thunder north of Santa Fe, a few miles east of LA.

Just camped in that area last week:
- stayed first two nights at White Rock RV Park; very nice with 50amp but no water with nearby dump station; basically a tight parking lot; walk to grocery and to Pig & Fig nice casual dining; took spot right next to fenced dog run which was like having our very own backyard with us
- moved the third (and fourth) nights to Bandelier National Monument; loved it; very beautiful; would definitely camp there again; but no connections; preferred this over White Rock
- have camped before at Hyde Memorial both with full hookups and no hookups; as the recent reviews show, Hyde is slipping in quality and maintenance which we noticed the last time we were there and which is why we didn't go back there this year
- current Airstream newsletter recommends independent Santa Fe Skies RV Park, but we try to avoid independents.
Los Alamos was very cool. be sure to visit the historic museum and tour the old Ranch Camp buildings.

Suggestions from all ref rv parks around Los Alamos
Thanks to all for the suggestions and even the photo of the White Rock event park. Kinda nice to know what to expect and Airstream Forum folks know how to help. We are probably opt for the full hookup parks with our 34’ tri-axle and do little more driving from Santa Fe, Taus or maybe even Abur. Definitely will plan to museum and old ranch camp buildings. Thanks again. Heading that way tomorrow. Will try and post after trip to help another voyager later on. Jim.

In 2007 we stayed in nearby Bandolier National Monument. No hook-ups, but a really interesting place, both naturally and culturally, and you can't beat the price if you have a senior pass.

If you are an Elks member, there is a lodge, full hookups, 15 dollars suggested donation.
