Looking for an RV Park near Tampa FL

I am looking for a RV Park near Tampa, FL for a night or 2. Not necessarily looking for a scenic park near tourist attractions, just clean, safe and reasonably priced. The main purpose of the trip is visiting family and friends. 30 amp elec and water hookups preferred.

Ft Desoto is an awesome Pinelles County Park but about a 40 minute drive into downtown Tampa and usually hard to get reservations. I also like Hillsborough River State Park - also about 40 minutes to downtown but on northeast side.

We stayed at Hillsborough River for a night 2 weeks ago. Nice park, well worth it. We were visiting family on the northeast side of Tampa so it was convenient.

If you are a dirt bike, archery or shooting aficionado, the http://manateegunclub.com has a basic RV park but excellent sporting opportunities steps away. As for shooting, it has 9 different ranges, a Girls on Target chapter, training available on self defense, Appleseed for the kids, force on force, long distance (to 1,000 yards) target shooting, NRA competitions and a great bunch of guys and families always ready to help. About one hour from Tampa, near Bradenton.

We stayed in Manatee RV park in Ruskin on ( what used to be ) Hwy41. Good facilities and secure. Tampa is accessible from the Sunshine Skyway or back north up Hwy 41 around the Bay.

We stayed the last 3 Winters at Tampa South RV park in Ruskin off highway 41. Easy access to I-75 but it is about 30-40 min South of Tampa depending on what part of Tampa you are visiting and the traffic. There are several there on highway 41. Also Hide-Away is a nice park next door to Tampa South. Can't remember the name of it but there is one right off 75 more north advertised as the one closest to Busch's Gardens. Lazydays looks nice also. Have a great time!! The icy roads here in MO makes me miss Florida !!!

We have stayed at Tampa South RV several times when visiting our son, who lives in Ruskin. It is immaculate -- newly renovated shower house and pool and friendly people.

RG Simmons County Park.
Large sites, water and electric, new and clean bathrooms, tons of water access to the bay, $18 a night, 28 day sign up at a time, first come first serve.

Tampa East RV Resort is "OK". The place is huge (a consolidation of three RV parks) and you can usually get a space. Nice pools and community facilities. Sites are rather small and vary a lot in quality--some nice and others not so nice, but probably OK for a couple of days.

If you stay there, be sure to get a few miles down the road to Parksdale Farm Market for some fresh-squeezed unpasteurized orange juice. It's heavenly.

Bay Bayou pretty close to Tampa

Bay Bayou is the only park that has refused to let me make a reservation when I gave the age of my vintage Avion. Others have asked for a picture before approving but Bay Bayou straight up said no.

Stayed at Traveler's Rest and have no complaints. Very large park catering to retired seniors staying long term. Lots of activities if you want them.
