Since I live in San Antonio and my job is in Austin, I would say shoot for something around Lake Livingston, Lake Livingston RV Park or maybe or Northshore RV Resort, if they are open. Many sites on lakes and rivers are closed due to high waters from the flooding. Also I am not sure if you are staying in Austin, but fair warning traffic is the worst in the nation, there's no time of day to avoid it on IH 35. But between 9:30 and 11:30am are your best bets, or over night. If your not staying in Austin, I would opt to bypass it via the tollway (130). I used to love Austin, but now its just has way to many people that came here for work. Also before I forget, you will need shade, lots of shade.

KStewart23, we will be passing by San Antonio around July 10th in the late afternoon pulling our 30' AS, and was wondering if you could recommend a full-hookup campsite for us to spend the evening. We are coming from Port Arthur, Tx that morning and think San Antonio would be a good place to stop on our journey taking our AS home to California. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! James

I have never stayed here but drive by it quite often and based on your itinerary, you won't find a more convenient place to spend the night. Boerne has several nice restaurants and shops to visit if you have time.

James, Stone Creek RV park is just outside San Antone in Schertz, TX (Exit 177 off I-35 but you’d never know you left San Antone...). Great park for weekends, overnight or hanging for a bit whilst doing the Alamo City tour thing. Full hook-ups, dog friendly, adult swimming pool & hot tub, small grocery store, laundry, private showers, etc.. There’s a walmart 2 miles south, grocery store (HEB), Lowes, etc., etc. The park is an easy on and easy off I-35.
South of Stone Creek on I35 is Loop 1604 which can take you to 281, I-10 and all points west/north. I’ve found the park much more convenient than the “inner city” parks.

Boerne, just 20 min. North of SA has a couple of RV parks and is a great little town to visit.

If your only staying the night or two I'd go with the one in Boerne, it's closer to IH 10 and on the west side of SA. So you can get in IH 10 west without having to deal with the city traffic. Plus boerne is a nice little community and you'll have access to everything you could need there. That part of SA is safe and a little more upscale.

In Austin try Pecan Grove RV Park. Very close to some good restaurants.
College Station try Holiday RV Park. Good reviews.
Crockett is a nice historic town. We haven't tried to stay there.
