We loaded up last Saturday and headed north about 150 miles to a COE CG named Jennings Ferry Campground. This was our first time staying at a COE and really did not know what to expect. But, for $11 a night (with an Interagency Pass) what did we have to lose? Check in was a bit bumpy, but we were the host's first customers flying solo.
We found a spot and got all setup. We were right on the water, actually on 2 sides and our nearest neighbor was quite a way off. Nice level pads, huge gravel patios with grills, work tables, picnic table, fire ring and a lantern pole.
The trees were changing colors and were in full blown yellows and reds. Lots of wildlife around as well. One caveat is that you will not be able to get in this place when Alabama is playing at home. All the campgrounds in the area are full to the rafters around game days.
We met a forum member who was on their way home and had a nice time talking to them.
So, we hung around until Tuesday, loaded up and drove back home completely relaxed and recharged.
