I'm a big fan of music and follow many artists of all types. I like when there's a brand new album to listen to on the drive - especially if we are driving to somewhere we've never been. From then on out, I'm reminded of that trip whenever I hear a song off the album. A little thing for sure.

After long day of towing, on arrival, noticing all the fridge, cooler and freezer temps are good and low.

I try to always have the TV and TT ready to hitch up and go. If it's not raining that is a big plus. Getting out of the DFW Metroplex means an early departure or waiting until 9:a.m. A level pull thru is a nice arrival treat. Generally, I am much more relaxed when underway than getting ready even though I'm already loaded. (Except for perishables of course.)

- Arrive before dark. No rain.
- Burn ban! No poorly built or poorly extinguished campfires.
- No neighbors with the equivalent of streetlights hanging outside. If it even slightly illuminates your neighbor’s camper, it’s too bright.
- Stars…and planets. See #3.

A view, a chair, a glass of bourbon and our lab Gunner.

I know the theme of Dennis's thread is 'little things that kick off a trip right', and not trying to deviate from that but I wanted to share an experience from our recent trip that to me, exemplifies what Airstreaming is all about.
Last weekend my wife and I took a couple of extra days to enjoy a long weekend of camping at one of our favorite North Georgia destinations. Our daughter is a junior in college at a large university. The day before we we left for the trip, our daughter informed us that she wanted to come with us. She left busy campus life, sold her ticket to the home football game, and drove 2 hours to meet us in the North GA Mountains. This I guess was the thing that 'kicked off the trip in the right way'. We have had our Airstream for 2 years and this is only the 2nd time she has camped with us. The trip was beyond spectacular. Best fall weather I think I have ever seen. Low 70's in the day, high 40's at night. Sunshine, cobalt blue skies. Leaves just starting to change color. We hiked, went to a fall festival, ate good, and played cards together in the trailer at night. Never turned on the TV. She does come home at times on the weekends, but this kind of intimate time together would have never happened at home. Three adults and a 45lb dog in a 25' Airstream for 4 days may not sound appealing to most, but I would not have traded that time for anything.
Yes we love our Airstreams, yes we love the cool destinations, but it's the people that we are with that makes the trips so special.

Little things
Little things really do count (2 warm chocolate chip cookies brought to my campsite by owners), or spotting a few other Airstreams close by, but I’ll settle for no dead branches directly over my campsite, a fully functional and safe power post, convenient dumpsters and an immaculate bathroom. And no 3-hour-long traffic jams.
