Little things that kickoff your camping trip the right way…

Some trips seem to be full of challenges before you ever tow a single mile. Some trips seem to have all the pieces fall into place, starting things off on the right foot.

Earlier this week, I backed into a parking spot in a campground in Colorado. My backing and parking went well. I checked the site as I prepared to level the trailer, and it was dead-on balls flat and level. Nice! It’s just a little thing, but it set the tone for the week. I love it.

What other little things help to get your trip off on the right foot?

A nice evening campfire and next AM getting the Coleman stove out in the crisp air to perc a pot.

Not having to cuss at the GPS and route it chose that got you there.

When arriving at a new campground and everything exceeds expectations. The site, the views, the amenities. Part of the excitement of this type of travel.
Now I know that this can go the other way in a hurry, but that's not what this thread is about !

Maybe not a little thing, but often what gets our trip started on a good foot is being able to get through Chicago without encountering stop & go traffic.

Agree completely! Would add that it's nice to set up for the 1st night and realize that we did NOT forget anything important.

Shortly after getting setup, the grand kids realize there's no cell or internet, and I smile to myself, lets go for a hike...

Talking to my teenage kids on the drive out. Getting into in-depth conversations about all of things going on in their lives and how they think about and see the world.

Realizing that never would have happened if we stayed home, or if we traveled somewhere on a plane.

Yup, that sets the right tone for me, having grandkids along on the trip, especially when we convince them to leave the screens at home!

Hi

Finding that this time you are not right off the end of the runway at a major fighter base. ( One that runs operations 24 hours a day ...).

-- or ---

Finding that you *are* right off the end of the runway and sitting out with a beverage and watching the free air show.

Take your pick.

That final test of the bathroom door after leveling at any new campsite. Once that’s confirmed everything else is pretty easy.

Correct Slope

When the slope of the waste hose is correct! Added the lift kit several weeks ago, so hopefully this happens more often! Mark

After traveling a full day (hopefully not more than 5 hours) and realizing my wife didn't remind me what the speed limit was all day. Having a perfectly level camping spot on top of that is what dreams are made of.
