Leaving tonight Tulsa to Tuscon
The Beader and I are leaving tonight to attend the big gem show in Tuscon.
It will be the first long haul on the new axles and I'm looking forward to a smooth and safe drive - albeit a long one. Looks like we're going to beat some bad weather and I'm looking forward to some 60-70 degree weather when we get there.
We've found a private residence out in the country where we are going to set up camp, but any AS'r out there that wants meet up, please let me know.
Any advice and comments are welcome.
Jitney

We are in Tucson and went to the horse races this afternoon at Rillito Park. Weather is clear and in the 70's with light breezes.
Venues for the Gem show are all over town. Enjoy!

Have a safe drive and fun at the gem show. We have a few friends heading down as well.
This time of year the weather can't be beat.

I'll be leaving for Tucson in a few days and plan to attend some of the gem show. I'll be leaving the Safari at home and staying with a relative on the west side of town.
Looking forward to temps above freezing.

Good time to get out of Dodge. Have you seen the weather forecast for Oklahoma, Missouri and northern parts of Arkansas come Tuesday? Yuck - snow and ice again. I think you're heading in the right direction!
Happy trails.

I'll be in the area soon. I have access to 6 acres just North of town where my 1970 will be resting until I can figure out if its going to live in OKC with me or if Im going to live on the road with it.. I grew up working playing and helping at the Gem and Mineral show. I know Tucson like the back of my hand, well its grown since I've been gone but I know the nuts (really) and the bolts of it. Contact me if you need any knowledge of the area. I should be there right after valentines day.

Amen..there's mean weather coming...we probably won't get it too bad here...looks like we'll only see the edge of it...but it was cool and it rained off and on in Tucson today and we're supposed to have a couple of nights well below freezing later this week. Not ALL is warm, warmer and hot in Arizona. But the Gem & Mineral Show started this past weekend and it looks like it's going to be a good one!

It was in the mid-40s yesterday and we were down to 7 F for an overnight low with about 6 in of snow overnight. More snow today, overnight lows below zero, and it will not get above freezing until Saturday. More snow forecast for Monday/Tuesday. Wish we were in Tucson already!
Drop south to I-10 asap and avoid I-40 if you are heading to Tucson.

We arrived in Tuscon at about 2 am. after a bit of an ordeal.
Our TV - a 99 Mercedes ML320 blew an axle on I40 about 100 miles east of Albuquerque. We had the good fortune to be able to get a tow for both the TV and the AS and found a great mechanic. We've rented a nice F150 from U-Haul and made it the rest of the way to Tucson - about 7 hours later.
The Mercedes is under-capable (I knew this) so we'll be shopping for a new one.
But we're set up at a guest house in the outskirts now. Our hosts, found on Craigslist, have been very accommodating and we're looking forward to a good weeks.

It's a good thing that you're not in Tulsa anymore!!!! Snowmageddon just caused the turnpike to be shutdown and the even the humvee's are getting stuck in the snow between OKC and Tulsa....plus you have the -15 windchills! I am totally envious right about now!
