Lake Tahoe RV Park/Campground Recommendations

Hello! My husband and I are ready to take our 23' Safari on it's first LONG (well for us road trip!! We are considering Lake Tahoe as a place to stay for 5-6 nights in late August. Has anyone stayed in the area? Do you have any recommendations? We have taken our Airstream on two trips so far, and we've already discovered we appreciate the amenities like full hookups, cable tv, and atmosphere.

Appreciate your help!!

Well, full amenities makes it a tough one, as I've never done it that way in Tahoe, or even had the desire. There is much to enjoy in the Tahoe area, and a self-contained 23' Safari is perfect for the state parks. I've enjoyed both Sugar Pine State Park and D. L. Bliss State Park, both on the Lake. Another choice is the Donner Memorial State Park about 25 minutes away, on Donner Lake. These parks fill up fast, though, and you need to investigate now for reservations. Good luck!

Anytime during the summer is crazy. I also would recommend reservations.

Tahoe Valley Campground is a great park that is within 15 minutes from Stateline, has full hookups and is well kept. I've spent a week there during the summer the past few years. There's even a Starbucks within walking distance...

martic Creek Campground

You could try Martis Creek Campground. It is about 20 minutes away from the lake but in a very nice area. I have hiked around there and there is a lot to see.

Here is a great link. There is an rv park right across the street from us with views of the lake!

Late August IS prime time

Really busy at the lake just before Labor Day! Good Luck, the link lovintahoe left has just about everything listed. Not a lot of full hook ups up there either and they go fast. FYI California State parks at the lake usually reserve out 7 months in advance. Trust me on that one, but no full hook ups at Ca parks at Tahoe. You're really limiting yourself needing full service. Have a good time, it's a beautiful area, emerald Bay is super, lots of good food , real good food in Incline, one of the BLM places trys to keep a spot open for those not lucky enough to have reservations, at least that was the m o last summer!Sometimes Sugar Pine Point will let you stay in their overflow for a nite or so. Work the phone, do it NOW. best wishes

Well I'm awake now, could not think last nite. My favorite eateries are all on the north shore. Start at the Loghouse for an award winning breakfast- then slide on over to Sunnyside for lunch, sit on the deck with a lite lunch and some sort of adult beverage.Watch the boats coming and going into the marina, relax and enjoy the beautiful view. Then off to Garwoods for the coconut shrimp appetizers with yet another cold beverage! Should you do all three places in one day you will be too wide to get back into your AS!! Not much of a south shore person, too many people and casinos. The hike along the ridge at Emerald Bay reveals some breath taking views of the lake, bring your camera, and it's easy to walk. The Ace hardware in Truckee is worth stopping by should you be in that area.Living close we go up there lots, always something to do! I know you were looking for places to stay I just got carried away! enjoy yourselves and don't feed the bears!
