La Paz

I'm considering a La Paz trip this summer. I have driven it once before about 40 years ago and in my surfing days we often drove to Mazatlan and below only in a VW bus. As I recall, about 10 + trips...but memory fades.
I understand that the road all the way down is very good and fast.
Anyone done this trek recently?

It would be fun to caravan with another AS so if there is a group that is going I could be interested in this as well.

First thing I would do contact the USA State Department and see what the travel advisories are.

Just drove to Loreto via Mex 5 & 1 and back again all the way on Mex 1. Last 25 miles of Mex 5 south of San Felipe is still a gravel/dirt road. Mex 1 between Guerrero Negro and El Rosario is a sea of potholes. Better off doing it the VW microbus!
