Question Just what do you take?

After living full time for nearly three years in my trailer, I will shortly be embarking on my first camping trip.

It will be a short one, just a weekend.
Since I was carrying my entire life, the trailer looks really empty. Other than cups, silverware, dishes, food, water hose and power cable what do I really need?

Just take the items mentioned above, and a hundred bucks to buy what you forgot.

You'll have a great time.

My list is probably an odd one since I tend to boondock. I carry a generator, folding picknick table (a pain to load, but sweet to have) and a portable propane camp shower.

The camp shower allows me to use creek water for showering while maximizing the fresh water in the AS. Between this and general conservation minded use I can get about 10 days out of the tank.

Satellite radio, tons of paperbacks, field guides, a really good lawn chair, decent fleece, a good hat, a handy table for next to the chair, field glasses, a good mindset.

I always go thru my day mentally, getting up, what will I use, going out, what to wear, what to eat, what will I use as I do everything in my day, and then go thru what I might need in emergencies, and then don't forget the beer! That technique usually gets everything I need, packed. And don't forget the cat treats or your name will be Hairball!

We have yet to make our first camping trip. However, I offer these pearls.. My wife insisted that we get a satelite antenna and two (count em, two) tvs for our 27 foot Airstream. It is my contention that one of the reasons for goinmg camping is to get away from TV.. Who is right.. Oh ya, I forgot.. Dont worry about who is right.. just get the damnable tv's.. Dont forget plenty of Irish Whiskeyll

Always a good idea to bring along a basic tool kit (screwdrivers, pliers, electrical tape, hose clamps, extra fuses, etc.) to make those little repairs that crop up occasionally.
Bug spray, an electric skillet, and a camera are pretty useful, too.

Paula,
I left TP and Towels in the trailer. I am going to have to port my water since I am stopping at AS of Spokane to have them find a leak. They are most likely going to have to drop the water pan and tank.

I made the bed and did some cleaning this morning. I am still finding things I carried just because.

Bill,
I plan on bringing my tool box. I left all the RV repair item in the RV.
Since my truck bed will be empty and the trailer a ton (literaly) lighter, it is likely I will have to adjust the WD/anti-sway. That takes some big wrenches!
