Hi all - we are canceling a two week Caribbean trip due to covid risk. Would like to back fill with a trip south somewhere (we live in California). Any recommendations for great parks, boon docking, etc? Don't mind cold, but avoiding areas with snow.
Thanks!
The area around Anza Borrego has lots to do. Huge state park with campground, nearby nice RV parks, and the surrounding BLM lands allow off grid boondocking.
Joshua Tree National Park is also a great place to visit. Several campgrounds are first come so that could work on short notice.
We've done several trips around the Colorado River from Lake Mead south to Needles. Lots to see and do, and many low cost full hook up parks. Willow Beach south of Lake Mead is especially nice, and cheap if you have a National Park Senior Pass but the road down to the park is quite steep.
We had a pleasant stay recently at Camplands in San Diego. Huge rv park right on Mission Bay. Pacific Beach a mile away with lots of great restaurants and there is a 12 mile bike path/loop around Mission Bay.

^ X2.
Plus bike path connects to OB (ocean beach) and the boardwalk (from the jetty N to Law st in Pacific Beach) along the beach parallel to Mission blvd. Balboa Park and downtown with the USS Miidway a short drive.
