It's Monday and I just got back from...

OK...

In the words of 2air', if done correctly this will be #1000 in my key dancin'...

I thought I would start a new thread about where you might have camped the previous weekend...it would give us all something to look forward to every Monday.

Give us all the details...location...how you'd rate it...ammenities...things do do in the area...hook-ups...etc...

Pictures will just add to the thread...

So here we go...

Congrats, Gene! You have been an awesome part of this forum and I, for one, really appreciate your input and great attitude!

Our last camping excursion was to Tar Camp Park on the Arkansas River, maybe 40 minutes from Little Rock (and about 20 minutes from home, yay!). It was AWESOME and beautiful and we enjoyed it very much. I will post pics later when I find them.

Congrats, Double-Rivet-Master!

Fun, and a great idea! I hesitate to advertise when I'm leaving on a trip, but I love to talk about it when we get back!

We just got back from three days at Emigrant Lake county park in Ashland Oregon. We go every year to see the plays in town. The RV park is fantastic, full hookups (but nothing fancy, no TV), and a view of the lake. We like to park on the lower side, where we can watch the comings and goings at the boat ramp (which is just far enough away to hear people shouting at each other when the boat launching or recovery gooes poorly). Although this is a paved lot, and the environment makes it hard for greenery to grow (it's very windy up on the ridge), I never feel like I'm crammed in between trailers. The layout is spread out enough it still feels private.

As for the trailer, everything worked perfectly - which is a real treat for a vintage trailer - except I forgot to screw my water fill cap back on before I left home. It was hanging by a wire, but it didn't make the whole trip. I duct-taped a PVC cap over it for the rest of the trip. When I got home I dug around and found a spare in my box-o-junk. So everything is ready to go for beverly beach next weekend.

Just got back from our very first outing in our very recently purchased 2006 International (which we absolutely love!). We did not stray too far from home -- across town, actually -- for our shakedown/familiarization. Spent an entire week on the banks of Percy Priest Lake at Seven Points Campground (Nashville, TN), a corps facility. Sixty sites; approx 15-16 on the water. Camping area has its own boat ramp and parking; also a swim area. Restroom/shower facilities are clean and in the process of being remodeled. Electric and water hookups at all sites; has a dumping facility. Most sites are back-ins; although there are a few pull-throughs. I thought that most sites were pretty private (lots of trees) but since I am new to this I don't have anything else to make a comparison to. Downtown is less than 30 minutes -- hard to believe that something so wonderful is so close to the city.

We love our Airstream!!!!!!

Just got back from...

A weekend runaway. We went to Pyramid lake RV resort. Close, cheap and not home!

Ate our Franks and Beans while watching Get Smart and listening to the rain on the roof.

Stress level nonexistant and happy meter is pegged.

Expedition Shakedown Run

Took the new TV out on its shakedown run last weekend. Quick run to a local campground in Mukwonago, about 30 minutes outside of Milwaukee. Truck pulled great, and, outside of tweaking tire pressures, we’re up and running.
Weather was perfect and being off-season it was nice and quiet with only 6 other campers in back under the trees.
Up front where the seasonals and big rigs park the Badger/Hawkeye game was projected on the side of a 5th wheel. This brought the usual reactions one has come to expect from Wisconsin football fans fueled by an afternoon of brats an’ beer.
Have to admit I enjoyed the cool evening and small fire with my own generous portions of Oktoberfest refreshment.

Tom.

Gene...this is a great idea for a thread...I love hearing where everyone is going and what you're doing...and always good to hear about cool places to go camping...

Stephanie...that looks like a great place near Ashland, OR...we used to have friends who lived there...always thought it was an interesting place (this was before 'Streaming came into our lives)...now I want to go back to go camping!

We just spent a long weekend at Roper Lake State Park, near Safford, AZ... But rather than repeat it all here, I'll just invite you all to visit our travel thread for all the details: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/...ain-36172.html

Come on by! And Happy Streaming!

Quaker Meadows

Last weekend we were at a place east of Porterville, CA at 7000'. We got dusted with snow, the peaks got more as you can see in the photo. Look close in the other one and you'll find a fire lookout on the rocky peak - it's zoomed as close as the camera would go and I lost some quality.
This was originally a church camp started by the "Friends"? group (Quakers) but the now rent to lots of groups.

Red face I'm a little late....

But I got sick the last day of our weekend trip.

We took Moby on his shakedown cruise to our WBCCI unit's fall rally at Lyndon Kansas last weekend. Due to the fact that I didn't have any input into the "where" of the rally, we were in an RV park. The park was clean and reasonable, but many of the sites were contacted for the summer to various construction workers. Consequently, it wasn't the quietest place in the state.

Just down the road about 5 miles was Melvern Lake, which we will be taking a trip to next year. After our visit one early morning, we decided that there will be very few RV parks for us.

We were just excited to have Moby on the road after three years of work and I think would have just parked in a Walmart parking lot for a couple days just to see if everything worked!! and it did!!

Can't wait til next spring.... and... just 17 months and 2 days to retirment!!

Didn't camp last weekend as I took a friend down to visit Gene's stable of Streams. However, the week prior we went to Mountain View, Arkansas for a little bluegrass music. Campground (Ozark RV-fairly close to the town square) was a nice place to stay but nothing extra. The atmosphere of the town, however, was really neat to experience. Apparently, every Friday & Saturday night from "when it warms up" to "when it gets too cold" musicians from all over converge on the town square. They are little groups set up all over the square and down the side streets. The town of about 2500 in the Ozark Mountains swells to three or four times that on some weekends. A real friendly atmosphere with people from so many different walks of life "just getting along and having a good time". There apparently is a lot of other things to do in the area, ie. canoeing, fishing, hiking and just sightseeing. Give yourself a little time to get there, as there is no easy way. However, in my opinion, definitely worth the effort.

Just got back from

....a little state park around the corner from Airhog, Village Creek. Stayed in the newly renovated full hook-up section for $27 + tax per night. All concrete pads and paved roads. Small lake and some things for the kids to do. Active Rangers. Very nice place about 11 miles off of I-40. Skeeters were a little tough and spiders dropped out of the trees a couple of times but we managed. Very nice place.
