Heading west to Yellowstone. Stopped last night at the Lake Anita State Park in Anita Iowa. Really nice park. Maybe the brightest lightning bugs I've ever seen.

We took the time off the freeway to have lunch there once. A very pretty park.

Winterset, Iowa is a very cool old town, with a very active and restored main street area and town square complete with gazebo, etc. Nice county campground in town and all those covered bridges nearby to explore.

We tend to think of Iowa as corn and soybeans and pork production, but there are beautiful old areas to explore and enjoy, as well.

If you get off the freeways and follow the old US highways there are quite a few beautiful, friendly small towns all over Iowa.
