iPhone Apps for finding campgrounds

Hi there...
Would you please make any suggestions for Smart phone, I Phone apps for finding campgrounds. Or any other preferred methods on where to camp on the fly. Thank you very much...

Allstays

I like the Allstays Camp & RV app for the iPad. However, I don't know how well it would work on the iPhone, if at all.

I had installed a couple of apps for campgrounds but ended up removing them - Good Sam has one and I don't recall the other one we used but I think there are a few available - the two I installed were good apps in the maps and information they provided but I didn't find that their on-the-road usability even remotely matched our GPS unit - and if you were in or going through a chunk of the world where cell phone coverage was poor then they were useless.

For our Garmin GPS we download POI's from the POI Factory at POI Factory | new & interesting places for your GPS - in addition to campgrounds there is an incredible variety of POI's on the site and, once loaded onto your GPS, they become very easy to access and use on-the-road - of course the big bonus is that you are not tied to the presence of a cell tower or wifi signal.

We use "Allstays" and "RV Park Reviews" on our iPhones and find them invaluable.

Reserve America (RA Camping), Allstays, the Recreation.gov Camping app and TV Towers for finding the location of local tv stations.
All are available for the iPhone.

I tried to find it, but my app store couldn't find it amongst their list of camping and dump station apps, most with bad reviews.

Use this as a paste into the search and it comes up for I Phone and I Pad
Allstays Camp & RV

This app lists far more than just campgrounds. It lists Wal Mark, LP gas, low clearance, rest stops, RV dealers, Casinos and lots more.

I use Allstays and have found it very useful. I am looking at it right now on the Apple App Store. It has a 5 star rating.

A couple of years ago we were heading down to the Balloon Festival and decided to stop over at a Walmart in Pocatello, Id. When we got there late in the afternoon we discovered that this place did not have ample space to accommodate trailers. I opened the iPhone and used Allstays which directed me to the fairgrounds in town. Water and electric hookups, nice bathroom and very reasonable fees. We find this app to be very helpful.

Another vote for Alstays here. It has more places, is easy to use, and is mostly accurate. I like the fact that when you look for information on National Forest campgrounds the local ranger district phone number is listed. Thus you can easily call that number to find if the campground is open or closed, for those seasonal ones. I have also talked to the ranger stations to find if a campground was usually full, or if I was going to be able to get a space in a popular time or weekend.

Allstays Camp & RV is the first app I have ever paid for for iPhone, after recommendation by some seasoned RV travelers with a class B RV. They appraised it and said I would find it essential. I am new to this so I haven't used it yet, but it appears to have been a very good investment.

Well, I must be doing something wrong, because I get nothing in the suggestions box.

I found it!!!!!! I had to manually go through the travel apps to find it, tho.

It is really cool. I pulled up some local CGs that I know about, and the app was right on the money. Great $10 investment. Thanks Guys.

AllStays

The best by far. What makes it great is that all types of parking alternatives are available in ONE PLACE and the filtering makes it easy to focus on just those that interest you. We've not seen anything that we would even consider to be a close second to AllStays.

Mr Happy
I setup a campground photo database as a web app that works great for iPhone, but it's only for upstate New York campgrounds. Currently I have 21 popular State/DEC campgrounds. The focus is mainly waterside campgrounds. Working on processing photos for another 21 campgrounds I shot in the spring. My solution to the ever frustrating problem of picking campsites with limited info/photos. See New York State Campsite Photo Database

I found CampHeroLite on the app store. It is searchable by city or by map. It was free, and very much worth the purchase price! I did notice, thought, the KOAs do notshow up, but state, county and federal campgrounds do show, well many of them, along with a variety of private parks. It gives the basics, as far as water, electric, sewer, showers being available, andlinks to web site of the owner.

We like RV Parky. It will show campgrounds, Walmart, Pilot and rest stops on the map. Has a link for web reviews and also a link for campground web site.
