In Spokane

Here we are in Spokane, WA and its 105 degree's, yesterday was its hottest day ever. Headed to Glacier Park tomorrow hoping it cooler.

We left AZ to get OUT of the heat. AC on high and going to movie this afternoon to fine somewhere cool.

Sorry about the heat wave! Consider heading further west instead - we generally stay cool on the north shore of the Olympic Peninsula and along the Pacific coast no matter what. Also, Whidbey Island has a few nice parks where you can camp - it should be relatively cool there in the coming week (the water effect again), and you can get there without taking a ferry.

OTOH, we're also not immune to forest fires in WA, so you need to check on whether there are any along your intended routes - e.g. we currently have one on in Olympic National Park. We also have a burn ban, so no campfires of any kind in state parks until at least September. <sigh>

To hot to stay here

We are out of here today to Glacier Park for a week, looks like it cooler over there.

We plan to WA to do the NW next year.

Sounds great, have a lovely trip. If you stop by the Sprague Creek campground, say "Hi!" to the camp hosts there - wonderful people. Sadly, that campground can't take RV's, but it's a lovely spot with a nice picnic area that also has steps right down to the lake. If you have a kayak, you might be able to toss it in there for a quick paddle as long as you get back before rangers close the picnic area for the day.

If you want a real treat (and have your passports with you) a day trip up to Waterton Lakes is a great experience - and especially the afternoon "high tea" at the Prince of Wales Hotel - the view is amazing and the whole experience will be one your will long remember. Many Glacier is a great place to scan the hillside to the north for g-bears - often they graze on the hillsides in full view of the hotel deck. The boat ride up Grinnell Lake is another treat.

Have fun.
